Jacob & Co.’s $14,000 Godfather Pen Makes an Offer We Can’t Afford

In The Godfather novel, Don Vito Corleone – head of the New York crime family – shares a piece of memorable wisdom. He says “lawyers can steal more money with a briefcase than a thousand men with guns and masks.” He’s not far from the truth. In reality, it’s the pen inside the briefcase that wields power. We’re all familiar with the old British adage that the pen is mightier than the sword, so what better way to celebrate Francis Ford Coppola’s highly acclaimed trilogy of films than with a luxury pen? That’s what celebrity jeweller Jacob Arabo has created – two exquisite pens, made by Italian artisans from the finest materials.

Central themes in Mario Puzo’s novel and the wildly successful movie adaptations were immigration, family and a sense of place – namely Italian immigrant family the Corleones creating a new life for themselves in New York City. It’s a story familiar to Jacob Arabo, a Russian immigrant who is now a massively successful jewellery designer. He’s taken his family-run Jacob & Company business from a studio in New York’s Diamond District to becoming an international luxury brand.

If you’ve not heard of Jacob and his outlandish jewellery and wristwatches, then you’ll certainly have heard of his celebrity fans. He counts David & Victoria Beckham, Elton John and Naomi Campbell among his big-name clients. But it’s as Jacob the Jeweller that he achieved his cult-like status and it’s under that moniker that he’s been referenced in over 100 songs./entertainment/usher-super-bowl-trailer

Having created some eye-catching and exceptional pieces for his close friend the Notorious B.I.G, he went on to design jewellery and watches for numerous megastars. How’s this for a client list? Puff Daddy, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Pharell, Kanye West, Usher, Nas, Beyonce, Nigo, Ja Rule, Fat Joe, and 50 Cent.

The Godfather pen comes in two variations, both featuring the iconic puppeteer imagery from the movie poster. The pens have been built with extraordinary attention to detail by Italian premium pen manufacturer Montegrappa – a nice nod to the Italian roots of the movie’s central characters.

The ballpoint version is constructed from a dark Charcoal Celluloid with contrasting trim made from rose gold plated silver. Additionally, the fountain pen boasts an 18k gold nib and a piston-filling mechanism. Both models feature imagery familiar to Godfather fans, including a rose, a bullet and a quirky revolver barrel. These handcrafted pens are limited to 499 pieces each and can be pre-ordered now. If you’re in the market for an outrageous pen, it’s an offer you can’t refuse.
