Oakley Embraces the Snake With Their 2025 Lunar New Year Collection
Scott Purcell – Co-Founder
Like a skilled skiier, Oakley continues to stay on top of its game. The iconic sports brand ushered in the Lunar New Year with a limited collection of eyewear, snow gear, and apparel. It was the Year of the Wood Snake on the Chinese Zodiac and each limited release was inspired by the slithery symbol, which represents transformation, rebirth, and luck. I hit the slopes with the collection’s two leading eyewear models – QNTM Kato and HSTN – and found them both to be exceptional. The price tag is on the higher side, but you get what you pay for, and that can go a long way out there on the course. Here’s a closer look.
Being an avid skier, I’m already well-versed on Oakley and its stellar supply of outdoor gear. With the latest Lunar New Year Collection, I found a great brand becoming even greater. I was simply blown away by the build quality and packaging of these products and the ongoing evolution of lens technology. Standard editions are available but the limited Lunar Year models dial up the collectibility factor by way of unique colour layouts and a lunar snake detailing.
Upon my arrival at the slopes, my first call of order was to take the new QNTM Kato for a proverbial test drive. I love the Oakley aesthetic, in general, and this sleek eyewear abides. Then I slipped them on to find them ergonomically exceptional. That’s namely thanks to a patented methodology known as PhysioMorphic Geometry, i.e. the brand’s latest advancements in optical design. The idea behind this innovation is to have the lens fit as tightly to the face as possible for a wider visual field along with improved impact protection.
With the QNTM Kato and its white pearl O Matter frames firmly in place, I took off down a challenging course. The eyewear remained sturdy and steady while the Prizm 24K lenses proved themselves absolutely essential. This wasn’t my first rodeo with Oakley sunglasses, and I can duly attest that the brand’s lens technology is better than ever, enhancing colour to bring the world itself into high definition.
For the next course, I swapped out the QNTM Kato and threw on the new HSTN sunnies. This eyewear likewise includes lightweight white pearl O Matter frames along with circular Prizm 24K lenses. A modernised trigger stem—inspired by Oakley’s Razer Blades—made for a nice detail while the limited edition snake logo drove home the distinctive aesthetic. The sunnies also feature ergonomic nose pads with no-slip grip to offer consistent retention while I navigated the slopes.
The Lunar New Year Collection models join a range of limited edition releases, each one purpose-built to conquer terrain. Other examples include the Line Miner PRO Goggles with a Prizm Torch lens, a white pearl MOD3 Helmet, and some killer apparel as well. You can score standard iterations of these products or you can embrace the snake by grabbing Lunar New Year versions before they’re gone.

Givenchy’s Gentleman Society Extreme Eau De Parfum
Harry Parsons – Senior Branded Content Manager
I’ve been going through a few different options to find that elusive signature scent, and I’m starting to think I may have found my holy grail.
Givenchy’s Gentlemen Society Extreme has been the source of numerous compliments, and generally hours after applying the cologne. Such lingering tones are likely placed down to the use of premium raw materials that are quite heavy upon first application but ease over time. This particular cologne is the older brother to the Gentlemen Society Eau De Parfum, but turned up about 10 notches (as alluded to in the revised name).
For those wondering what makes it extreme, let me try to explain what it smells like. To start you get a strong burst of fresh, spicy notes that grab your attention right away. It then softens into a mix of gentle floral and earthy scents with a surprising hint of iced coffee. Finally, warm, woody notes settle in, helping the scent last on your skin.
Retailing for AUD$221, this is certainly an investment, but trust me it’s worth it. Your partner, friends, family and the person sitting next to you on the bus will thank you.

Beatrix Boon – Social Video Producer
A grab-and-go system that’s super easy to use. Coming in a perfect compact little kit bag, it’s perfect when you’re running out the door going to an event that requires filming. The kit includes a shotgun mic, a bi-color LED light, a couple side handles and a mini tripod. I’ve used this setup before and I can’t wait to start using it again, I think it’ll be particularly useful for those in the team who don’t usually shoot video!
