MANIAX is opening its doors to new battlegrounds in April 2022, launching an epic 350-person axe throwing utopia and Viking-esque themed bar in Sydney’s Inner West. The biggest of its kind across Australia, this venue will be MANIAX’S largest and perhaps most axe-troardinary thus far.

A Scandinavian paradise located in the heart of Marrickville, the flagship is waiting to be explored. Designed by multi-award-winning interior designer Alex Zabotto-Bentley, and his team AZB Creative; the room features acid washed concrete floors, leather banquettes, an antiqued mercury mirror, an enormous antler chandelier, a chalet-style fireplace, and of course, a throne. The transportive environment is filled with all the horns, shields, runes, axes, helmets, ropes, first and hides a Viking warrior could ever imagine.
In the name of cutting edge competition, guests of all levels can partake in private or group sessions. To maximise both safety and enjoyment, MANIAX’s full trained “AXE-perts” are there to ensure the brave competitors enjoy a zero axe-idents experience to remember.
Becoming an axe-wielding warrior means you feast like an axe-wielding warrior. MANIAX Sydney Inner West offers a huge range of local craft beers, wines, soft drinks and Viking-inspired cocktails. To fuel the swing, guests can also select from a selection of freshly made pizzas to smaller snacks at the bar. Pre-booked groups of 8 or more can indulge in a made-to-order banquet which includes:
- Slow-cooked meats, pizzas or burgers
- Sharing board decked out with fine cheeses
- Cured meats
- Artisan olive
- Homemade fruit pastes
- Fresh berries
- Toasted nuts

Co-owner and Director, Adam Schilling, believes the success of MANIAX has been due to the glee people experience when throwing an axe for the first time. “MANIAX is about pure fun. And the launch of MANIAX Sydney Inner West is about creating ‘fun’ on an epic scale. It’s our largest outfit by a country mile and shows that people are craving some light-hearted distraction and a reason to try something different with their friends, family, and colleagues,” he said.
Inspired by axe-throwing adventures in Canada, Adam and wife Renee started throwing axes in their backyard in Coogee, much to the neighbours’ annoyance. Today, the business is Australia’s largest axe throwing outfit with destinations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide, with five more opening in 2022 alone.
