The latest good-time venue has just arrived in Sydney, and it’s all about less rest and more play. Despite the name, Hijinx Hotel‘s purpose isn’t to provide accommodation, rather, the masterminds behind the hospitality-driven entertainment company, Funlab, have come together to concoct what is better described as a challenge room. Get ready for no sleep and all the sensory shenanigans.

Hidden in an unassuming warehouse in Alexandria’s industrial area, you’ll find the beginnings of a Willy Wonka-esque emporium of fun. What is disguised as a quirky New York hotel is in fact a theatrical wonderland filled with quick-play challenge rooms, a lift and three cocktail bars. As you enter the faux hotel lobby, you are catapulted back to the electrifying days of yesteryear amongst whacky retro décor.
Each one of the ten (soon to be fifteen) challenge rooms bring a new nostalgic feast, playing on a different 80s or 90s cult classic movie or board game. Players will revel in the ultimate throwback experience as they navigate their way through memory lane with favourites such as Poke A Dot, Scrambled and Shape’n Up challenge rooms, inspired by Twister Scrabble and Tetris.
“Hijinx Hotel is like nothing we’ve ever done, or that the world has ever seen before. It’s perfect for the young and young at heart who are wildly sentimental or love a throwback” Blaise Witnish, chief growth & innovation officer at Funlab said.
If all that wasn’t enough, putt-putt enthusiasts can also rejoice in the ‘mega’ Holey Moley experience featuring 27 themed holes under an impressive 14-metre-high ceiling. The addition will crown as the biggest Holey Moley location to date.
“There are so many curated details to make every aspect of the precinct memorable, and of course, a blast to experience. The team has let their imaginations run wild and we are thrilled to finally open the doors on Hijinx Hotel and the mega Holey Moley,” Witnish continued.
Guests can further tantalise their senses at one of three venue bars, including the neon-lit Hotel Lobby Bar and the Caravan Beer Garden. Enjoy themed snacks or get the full theatrical experience with an exotic beverage like the Bubble and Pop cocktail; a delectable potion of tequila, white chocolate, passionfruit, lemon, and egg white, topped with a sweetly scented bubble that bursts and gives way to a dazzling suspended vapour. Hijinx Hotel is a leisure-tainment utopia set to level-up date night, your catch-up with mates, or a family day out.
