The company’s latest innovation is a carbon undersheet and duvet cover that traps a fart in its tracks. By inserting your doona inside, The Flatulence Filtering Duvet Cover’s inbuilt carbon panel conceals nightly odours before they escape and discreetly filters intestinal gas throughout the night.

“Both products use the same technology found in our award-winning underwear, the highly porous carbon acts as an adsorbent which attracts and traps flatulence odours and is simply reactivated when washed.” said a spokesperson for the company. “These brand new products are the latest in a long line of successful odour eliminating products that Shreddies brand is known for including their patented underwear, undershorts, cushions and odour eliminating bags.”

According to Shreddies, the average person lets rip 14 to 20 times per day. However, many experience excessive flatulence when they are sleeping. This occurs because gas ‘pools’ up inside the colon while we rest, releasing more aggressively than the more consistent bursts during the day. The company said: “Throughout the night, this gas is released and can cause an unsettled night’s sleep and an unpleasant odour. “We know from speaking to our customers that bad flatulence at night can drive spouses from their marital bed.”
