2022 Ford Bronco Raptor Revealed, But Don’t Expect it Any Time Soon

The Ford Bronco already has a storied past of climbing the unclimbable and gaining access to difficult destinations. The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor continues that trend with a design and build meant to take the new Bronco over rougher terrain faster. But new reports suggest it may never see the rough Australian conditions it is essentially designed for.

In terms of improved performance, that should be self-evident given the Raptor designation. Much like the pickup version, the Bronco Raptor expands on an already capable vehicle. To start with, the Bronco version comes with a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 that produces over 400 horsepower. The Bronco also has a 4500-pound towing capability.

The engine mates to a 10-speed automatic transmission that comes with an advanced four-wheel-drive system. It also has a stance meant for clearing terrain, in part thanks to the gigantic 37-inch tires. The tires help with making a smooth ride, and a beefier suspension fills out that task regardless of the terrain. The tires are capped with fender flares that truly flair out in such a manner as to deserve the description of “exaggerated.”

An exclusive grille design comes with amber lighting elements, and there are more custom accessories than you could ever wish for. That may make up for the fact that even though this is a Raptor version, the interior is the same as what you would find in the regular Bronco—which isn’t necessarily reason to complain anyway. Infotainment is achieved via Ford’s Sync 4 interface and is carried out on a 12.0-inch touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard. The system comes with Apple CarePlay, Android Auto, and can serve as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Topping it off is a Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The base price for the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor should be slightly more than the F-150 Raptor, which starts at around USD$67,000, short of the $100,000+ for the Ford F-150 Raptor R. That’s a considerable investment, and it only goes up as you choose accessories, but what you’ll get for that money is a rig with a storied past and a promising future that is adventure ready. Unfortunately, however, it looks like has no plans to bring the behemoth Down Under. A Ford Australia spokesperson recently confirmed to CarExpert there are no current plans to bring the Bronco Raptor to Australia.
