Bang & Olufsen Beoplay EX: ‘Most Versatile’ Earphone

No one would accuse Danish audio dynamos Bang & Olufsen of skimping on design. For over 96 years, the unique firm has crafted a catalogue of style-conscious freestanding speakers that more than live up to the hype, however, B&O’s headphone range hasn’t quite captured the same audience. In a market dominated by sports modes and true wireless connectivity, designer earbuds are getting harder to justify, however, if the first look at the new Beoplay EX is anything to go by, Bang & Olufsen might have just figured it out.

Described by the Danish design firm as its “most versatile true wireless earphones to date”, the new Beoplay EX buds make a lot of promises. Bang & Olufsen claims the new release will deliver an unparalleled combination of performance and style, mainly though the addition of adaptive ANC and a fully waterproof, dust-resistant IP57 design. While those features aren;t entirely new, it has to be said that B&O have managed to package them up in a truly breathtaking form factor.

Ultra-stylish and boasting a specs-sheet to match, it’s hard to knock the new release, and that’s bad news for its competitors. Aiming to be a new AirPod alternative, the Beoplay EX houses the largest-ever speaking driver used in a B&O true wireless earbud and arrives with a completely new shape. The ergonomic design is paired with the brand’s signature high-end brushed aluminium aesthetic, giving way for three seriously sexy new colourways.

Further to that, Bang & Olufsen confirmed that the Beoplay EX has up to 20 hours of total playtime including charging in the case, and six hours of playtime with ANC turned on. Similarly, users can personalise their listening experience through the B&O app, which comes complete with Beosonic equalizer and noise cancellation adjusters to give complete control over the final result.

The new Bang & Olufsen Beoplay EX is available now in either Black Anthracite, Gold Tone or Anthracite Oxygen finish. You can score a pair of the new earphones for AUD$650.
