Twelve South has revolutionised the way you experience in-flight entertainment again with the all-new AirFly Pro 2. This little dongle has become a travel essential for us (and many others around the world) because it lets you plug in and connect your favourite Bluetooth headphones to the plane’s in-flight entertainment system so you can enjoy high-quality, cable-free audio whether you’re cruising at 35,000 feet or sweating it out at the gym.
The TwelveSouth AirFly Pro 2 builds on the solid foundation of the original AirFly but refines every detail for better sound and volume controls.
Taking inspiration from its more affordable predecessor, the AirFly SE, a dedicated on/off switch now powers the device straight into pairing mode, so you’re ready to listen faster than ever. Intuitive front controls let you adjust the volume or mute audio in the low light of a dimmed cabin. Battery life has also increased to provide more than 25 hours of listening on a single USB-C charge.

Key Product Features:
- Superior sound quality with aptX™ support
- Effortless Bluetooth pairing with dedicated pairing buttons
- Dual headphone connection for shared listening
- Operates in TX (transmit) mode for sending audio from wired devices and RX (receive) mode for playing Bluetooth audio through wired speakers
- Intuitive physical controls for volume and mute adjustments
- Over 25 hours of battery life
- Fully charges within 2 hours via USB-C
While we predominately use ours for travel, the AirFly Pro 2’s versatility extends to everyday life. Wirelessly connect your headphones to gym treadmills, vintage stereo systems, or even an old iPod to revive that timeless sound.
The ability to pair two sets of wireless headphones simultaneously means you can share your favourite movie, podcast, or video game with a mate without any cumbersome splitters. And if you want to stream music from your phone straight to your car’s AUX-IN, the AirFly Pro 2 transforms into a seamless adapter, ensuring you’re never without your soundtrack—even in your old beat-up Toyota Corolla.
Taking versatility a step further, AirFly Pro 2 operates in two distinct modes: TX and RX. In TX (Transmit), it sends audio from any device with a wired headphone jack—think in-flight TV or gym equipment—to your wireless headphones. Flip the TX/RX toggle button on the side, and you switch to RX (Receive), which receives Bluetooth audio from your phone or tablet and plays it through wired speakers or AUX-IN ports.

The internals has been upgraded, and the capability to cast high-quality audio to your headphones is now AirFly Pro 2 with support for aptX-HD CODEC and a Qualcomm QCC3056 chipset. Twelve South even touts an optimised processor for sound quality and latency, making movies, music, and games sound even better. Improvements in background noise reduction further enhance voice clarity—a real boon on those long-haul flights.
Its sleek, refined design—complete with colour-matched headphone jack accents, a smooth textured finish, and well-placed volume buttons—makes it an accessory as stylish as it is functional. Plus, compatibility with all major Bluetooth headphone brands (think Sony, Bose, Beats, and more) ensures a hassle-free connection every time.
The AirFly Pro 2 is priced at USD$59.99 and is available on Twelve South’s US site (approx. AUD$95). While it’s not available in Australia just yet, expected availability is from late May 2025 with Australian pricing to be confirmed.
