LG Unveils World’s First 4K OLED Gaming Monitor with One-Click Refresh Rate Switch

If the news is to be believed, LG’s newly announced 2024 UltraGear OLEDs are pushing refresh rates beyond the standard 60Hz (or even 120Hz) limit, redefining what’s possible in gaming monitors. The South Korean tech giant recently announced the launch of six new gaming monitors as part of its 2024 UltraGear OLED series, including the LG UltraGear 32-inch 4K gaming monitor (32GS95UE), touted as the “world’s first 4K OLED gaming monitor with Dual-Hz feature”.

The 2024 UltraGear lineup also expands LG’s OLED gaming monitor family with new and updated 27-inch, 34-inch, 39-inch, and 45-inch UltraGear OLED widescreen curved models. However, the one that stands out is the new relatively mid-sized 32-inch 4K UltraGear monitor, thanks to its innovative “single click” refresh rate switching.

The 32-inch OLED 32GS95UE comes fitted with LG‘s 4-side virtually borderless design, giving it ultra-thin bezels on all sides and a sleek, minimalist look. As you would expect from a next-gen gaming monitor, the OLED 32GS95UE has a blazing-fast 240Hz refresh rate OLED panel and an ultra-fast 0.3ms GtG response time.

LG’s 32-inch OLED 32GS95U is also “the first UltraGear monitor” to pack in the company’s new and innovative Dual-Hz technology that lets you switch between 4K at 240Hz and Full-HD at 480Hz with “one simple click.”

According to the manufacturer, this “time-saving innovation, easily managed via a hotkey or joystick’s directional switch, lets users instantly apply the optimal combination of screen resolution and refresh rate for the genre of game they’re playing. For fast-paced action titles and shooting games, users can select FHD 480Hz, while visually rich story-driven games can be enjoyed in 4K 240Hz.”

Beyond the immersive screen and refresh rates, LG has also fitted the 32GS95UE with decently powerful speakers. The monitor has an integrated front-facing speaker built into the OLED panel and two woofers. To further enhance immersion, these speakers feature Pixel Sound technology that “creates an exhilarating, three-dimensional soundscape” and supports DTS Virtual: X. Alongside the 32-incher, LG also unveiled two new ultra-wide gaming displays: the 34-inch 34GS95QE and its first 39-inch model, the 39GS95QE.

Both these monitors feature an ultra-wide design with a 21:9 aspect ratio, an 800R curve, a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440, and an impressive 240Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, they support G-Sync, FreeSync Premium Pro, and DisplayHDR True Black 400.

In an official press release, YS Lee, the VP and head of the IT business unit of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company, said, “LG’s new lineup of UltraGear OLED gaming monitors elevates the gaming experience with groundbreaking technologies and a variety of sizes and form factors. LG is dedicated to leading the gaming monitor segment and meeting gamers’ needs, designing innovative products that deliver a deeply satisfying visual and audio performance.”

If the plethora of choices mentioned earlier doesn’t already overwhelm your decision-making, LG is taking things even further by introducing three more new additions —a 27-inch (27GS95QE) and two 45-inch (45GS95QE, 45GS96QB) monitors.

While the company shied away from sharing key specs like refresh rates, response time, or other details, the company did tease that the 45-inch 45GS96QB will feature an 800R curvature UltraWide QHD resolution and built-in speakers, while the 27GS95QE will be a “great option for smaller spaces, providing a 27-inch flat screen OLED display with all the specifications and features needed for next-level gaming.”

All three models will be VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified, offering high-brightness screens that produce deep blacks and improve depth and detail in darker game environments. LG hasn’t shared any details yet about the pricing or release date for the 2024 UltraGear OLED series, and we’ll likely have to wait until the upcoming CES 2024 for more details.
