  • Audi RS Q8 Performance arriving at dealerships soon, priced from AUD$255,800 plus on-roads
  • Previewed recently at F1 Australian Grand Prix 2025
  • Twin-turbo V8 gains more power at 631hp and 850Nm

The RS Q8 is not your usual garden variety Audi as not only is it their most powerful car ever, but it is also a lap-time record holder for SUVs at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with an eyebrow-raising time of 7:36.698 minutes. For a carmaker that earlier had a V10 supercar in its range, a massive SUV being its most powerful car shows how the performance car genre has spilled over to different body styles.

Based on the ‘regular’ RSQ8, the Performance moniker adds in a further 40hp to bring the total horsepower output to a colossal 631hp with the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 being mixed with a 48V mild-hybrid system. Even the torque figure has risen to 850Nm, which means it will dispatch 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. Of course, there is the Quattro system to reign in all that power while an 8-speed automatic is standard. The RS Q8 Performance also has all-wheel steering, a mechanical self-locking centre differential for less understeer, adaptive air suspension sport and active roll stabilisation.

Design-wise, the RS Q8 Performance strikes a purposeful stance being peppered with various go-faster bits including a set of 23-inch alloy wheels in a 5-Y-Spoke, gloss-turned design paired with 440 mm ceramic front brakes with red brake calipers along with a lighter exhaust system while there is also less sound deadening now to enjoy the V8 music even more via the two-gloss black oval tailpipes.

Elsewhere, the grille has been tweaked along with HD Matrix headlights and OLED lights at the rear with customisable light signatures.

Look inside and there are RS Sport seats with heating and ventilation, Nappa leather all around with honeycomb stitching and brushed aluminium inlays while the equipment list is generous (as you would expect) with a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, a panoramic sunroof, 4 USB ports between the front and rear, soft close doors, a four-zone climate control system and an electric tailgate as standard. However, at heart, it also remains a large SUV with ample room at the back and a commodious luggage compartment.

Priced from AUD$255,800 plus on-road costs the RS Q8 Performance is around AUD$30,000 dearer than the RS Q8, but we believe the extra performance makes it worth the money alone along with the cachet of owning ‘the most powerful combustion Audi’ right now.
