It’s the end of the week, and you know what that means: another instalment of Man of Many’s Feel-Good Friday! Every week we look to bring some fun ideas for things you can do this weekend, as well as some easy opportunities for you to do some good in the world.

This week, we’re showing off a few ways to get out and about this weekend, as well as a chance to get a fresh haircut ahead of Father’s Day next weekend (on Gentleman Jack, of course). Also, we’re highlighting a bar in Sydney breaking up with rum and coke to try something a bit flashier.

Here’s this week’s Feel-Good Friday.

Run and Recharge at The Pit Stop by HOKA this weekend

Challenger running brand HOKA is partnering with MLK Deli and The Foundation Gym in Surry Hills, Sydney this weekend to deliver a place for runners (and the rest of us) to rest, reset, and refuel.

Firstly, MLK Deli will serve as the start point for a community 4km run on Friday 29 August (if you’re reading this you’ve already missed out on the run). On Saturday 30 August, between 12pm and 2pm, HOKA is partnering with The Foundation Gym to deliver a guided breath-work session and help gym-goers learn some mindful movement techniques.

And, finally, between 9am and 3pm on Sunday 31st HOKA is heading back to MLK Deli to launch the full Pit Stop experience: a branded cafe set-up with limited-time menu items and HOKA freebies.

HOKA ANZ’s head of marketing Stephanie Jackson said “at its core, this community-first event series celebrates the uplifting, universal joy that comes from movement”. So, if you’re keen on moving, or just really want a HOKA-branded coffee, head to the Pit Stop activations this weekend!

Get a new ‘do on Gentleman Jack

In case you somehow forgot, Father’s Day is next weekend. The fine folk at Gentlemen Jack didn’t forget, though, and are actually offering to spruce up dad ahead of the big day—free of charge!

Effectively, Gentleman Jack has partnered with The Barberhood on York Street, Sydney, and is giving away 20 complementary grooming sessions (valued up to $90) each day between Monday 1 September and Friday 5 September.

Services include a full beard styling, a lather head and/or face shave, a haircut, all with the works: hot towels, cologne, a precision tidy-up, and a refreshing bourbon to finish. If you (or your old man) are keen on getting sorted ahead of the weekend, reservations are open now.

Make a Splash with Sydney MS Mega Swim

With a goal of raising $100,000, over 500 swimmers are diving into the annual Sydney MS Mega Swim this weekend: a community charity event that sees relay teams swim for 24 hours straight to raise money for multiple sclerosis research and treatment.

Kicking off at 12pm on Saturday 30 August, and finishing up 24 hours later, the Mega Swim is a massive effort that raises vital funds for people in need, as well as helping fun MS ‘Go for Gold’ scholarships – which further helps people living with MS to reach their goals.

If you’re keen to make a difference this weekend, you can head on down to Sydney Olympic Park’s Aquatic Centre to take part, be that in the pool or by donating.

Old Love’s one-month-only ‘Rebound’ Menu

The folk at Sydney cocktail bar ‘Old Loves’ are going through a breakup—at least temporarily—with Bundy and Coke, and have launched a ‘Rebound’ menu for the month of September, utilising Diplomático: a ‘super premium’ Venezuelan rum.

As part of the breakup, cola is getting dropped from the cocktail menu and a new breed of recipe is being rotated in: utilising some new flavours in the hopes of delivering patrons something fresh.

Instead of the traditional rum & coke, Old Loves is serving the ‘Café Venezuela’, a zesty take on the espresso martini, as well as the ‘Una Noche’ (a spicy, cola-esque highball), the ‘Monte Esclusiva’ (a bitter and boozy take on the Monte Carlo), the ‘Love Boat’ (a sour, fruity take on the daiquiri), and the ‘Jungle Fever’ (a spicy spin on the Jungle Bird).

If you’re keen to try out some new flavours, or just really like the sound of some of those cocktail ideas, head to Old Loves and ask for the secret menu: I doubt you’ll be disappointed.
