- Qantas will operate dozens of dedicated Points Planes throughout 2027, with every available seat on selected flights bookable using Qantas Points.

Got a healthy stash of Qantas Points but can’t find the flights you want? Well, the Flying Kangaroo might have an answer. Qantas is opening up thousands of additional reward seats across its domestic and international network in 2027, giving frequent flyers more opportunities to use those hard-earned points.
It’s the year of Qantas Points Planes, and the airline has announced a year-long series of dedicated Points Planes, where you can book every available seat on selected flights as a Classic Flight Reward. That includes Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First Class, depending on the aircraft.
Travellers can book the first release of seats right now, with 10 return services (20 flights in total) covering Tokyo during January’s peak snow season, Paris in February and Hobart during the school holidays. And there’s a fairly tight window to get in, with bookings closing on Sunday, 8 November. Don’t dilly-dally, we’ve got some flights to book.

Where Can You Fly With Qantas Points?
The first batch of flights includes Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, with Economy fares starting from just 9,200 Qantas Points (plus $61 in taxes and charges) for Melbourne to Hobart. Internationally, Brisbane to Tokyo starts at 29,000 points, while Sydney to Paris via Singapore starts at 63,500 points. How many Qantas Points do you have stashed away?
Here’s what you’ll need for the first release:
| Route | Economy | Business |
|---|---|---|
| Sydney–Paris (via Singapore) | 63,500 | 166,300 |
| Sydney/Melbourne–Tokyo | 36,200 | 98,400 |
| Brisbane–Tokyo | 29,000 | 82,100 |
| Sydney–Hobart | 13,800 | 29,000 |
| Melbourne–Hobart | 9,200 | 19,300 |
| Brisbane–Hobart | 13,800 | 29,000 |
Tokyo flights depart on 5 January and return on 12 January, while Hobart services run from 12 to 19 January. Paris departs on 22 February, with the return flight on 18 March 2027.

How to Book Qantas Points Planes
Unlike regular reward availability, where only a limited allocation of seats may be offered, these dedicated flights open every available seat to Classic Flight Reward bookings. The points required follow Qantas’ fixed Classic Flight Reward pricing, so the real benefit is greater availability, not cheaper fares. But if you don’t have enough points, don’t worry; Qantas is still offering standard cash fares across available flights.
Qantas plans to release more Points Planes each month throughout 2027, with Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Vancouver among the destinations planned. Some international services will use Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 aircraft, creating opportunities to book premium cabins with points.
“Around 10 reward seats are booked every minute,” said Qantas Loyalty and Customer CEO Andrew Glance, with the new series adding to the airline’s existing five million Classic Reward seats. “As more members build their points balances, we want the seats to be there when they are ready to book them,” added Glance.
The first booking window runs until Sunday, 8 November 2026, subject to availability. You can search and book through the Qantas website or Qantas App, with further routes and dates to be announced throughout the year.
