The Past Finally Comes Back to Haunt in ‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 6 Trailer
More than a year after creator Steven Knight confirmed he would put a fitting end to Tommy Shelby’s misfit band of brothers, Peaky Blinders season 6 finally has a trailer. In a surprise New Years gift, the BBC dropped the first trailer for the final season, with fans eagerly anticipating an early 2022 release date. But far be it for Knight to just leave things hanging. With news of a Peaky Blinders movie and a raft of questions still left unanswered, season 6 could prove to be one of the biggest premieres in television history. Good news, innit?

In the new trailer, it appears almost every ghost from Tommy’s past is back to haunt him. From the family members that went out of their own to the rising threat of Nazism across Europe, the gangster’s efforts to go straight are anything but simple. It appears to be taking its toll on the family patriarch.
Opening with a slow shot of Tommy stumbling forward through the darkened mist, the trailer sees him Tommy Gun in hand firing round after round into the air, which could be a warning shot or a cry of anguish. Whatever, the case, only Knight and his star-studded cast of characters, including Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Paul Anderson, Finn Cole, Anya Taylor-Joy and Sophie Rundle and Stephen Graham know for certain.

For fans of the hit BBC series, Peaky Blinders season 6 is a bittersweet release. Creator Knight has previously confirmed that this will be the final instalment of the show, which sadly saw the passing of main actress Helen McCrory back in April. Nevertheless, the showrunner is determined to close the show with a characteristic bang.
“Peaky is back and with a bang. After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher,” Knight told Deadline in 2021. “We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form.”
