Just a day after the hotly-anticipated second season of Apple TV+’s smash hit Severance wrapped up, the streaming service has confirmed that a follow up is on the way. Apple CEO Tim Cook dropped a teaser trailer on social media, confirming that Severance Season 3 is coming.
While there’s no release date just yet, we can expect the wait for the third season won’t be as long as it took to get the second. The first season of Severance launched in 2022 hitting at a perfect moment when the nature of work was being questioned globally due to the Covid-19 pandemic, while the second season dropped three years later in 2025.
The wait between seasons was drawn out by the pandemic, making further filming increasingly difficult and dangerous, as well as a series of highly-publicised strikes across Hollywood, wherein writers and actors put down tools in solidarity.
Now, though, executive producer Ben Stiller is confident we’ll see inside Lumen Industries again before long. A few days ahead of Apple’s announcement, he told the New Heights Podcast: “The plan is not to .”
Stiller said that making Severance has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences he’s ever been a part of, and that it’s given him an even greater appreciation of amazing actors, such as series lead Adam Scott, who plays Mark Scout.
“I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast & crew, Apple and the whole ‘Severance’ team ,” Scott said.
While we don’t know much about the new season, you can be sure we’ll update this story when we do.

What is ‘Severance’?
If you haven’t watched the second (or even first) season yet, you absolutely should. It’s one of the best shows on Apple TV+, if not the best, and is like one, really long episode of Black Mirror.
Without spoiling anything, Severance tells the story of Mark Scout, a new recruit at Lumon Industries: a workplace that sees its employees undergo a ‘severance’ procedure to separate their work and home lives, essentially creating two separate people in the same body. However, things start unravelling as Scout probes deeper into the experiment, and finds more than he bargained for.
Scout dives into the nature and relationships of the people he works with, the true goals of Lumon Industries, and does a bit of dancing along the way. We really don’t want to go much further, as so much of the show hinges on its mysteries, so we’ll leave it there.
How do I watch ‘Severance’?
As mentioned above, Severance Season 1 and 2 can be streamed exclusively on Apple TV+.
