The John Wick series is huge in Australia, and despite some confusion and bitterness caused by John Wick 2’s Australian release date, fans down under will have a reason to smile about the release date for the latest offering.
You all cheered in the second film, as he painted the streets of Rome with the blood of a whole bunch of Italians, pretty much on a whim.
Now, he’s back for more, and while we don’t know exactly who’ll be on his (quite literal) hit-list, we can be certain of one thing: there will be blood.
John Wick 3 Cast
Portrayed by the talented, if not perpetually exhausted, Keanu Reeves, who is indisputably the poster-boy for neo-noir cinema, John Wick is one of the more exciting characters to come out of Hollywood in the past decade. Though assassin-centric action films are hardly a fresh concept, there’s something human and likeable about Reeves’ portrayal of Wick, an ex-hitman who just wants a quiet life with his dog, until a syndicate of underworld figures come to his home in the middle of the nigh… blah, blah, blah–you already know how it goes.
You can also expect to see a lot more action from fellow John Wick cast members like Laurence Fishburne, Hale Berry, Jason Mantzoukas & Ian McShane to name a few.
John Wick 3 Title
On the back of the huge success of the first two films, and the fact that movie number two’s storyline was left open-ended, Lionsgate is preparing to release the third instalment in the John Wick saga, which is named John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (long and clunky a title though it may be).
With only this ten-second clip, which the production company released via their Instagram page yesterday, to go by, we don’t know much more about the latest offering’s plotline than we did at the end of John Wick 2. The last film’s ending saw the ever-beleagured yet affable killing machine given a one-hour head start before an exorbitant bounty is placed on his head, causing every assassin in the world to sharpen their blades, polish their Sig Sauers, and lick their lips in bloodthirsty anticipation.
Having pissed off the overlord of the Continental Hotel, an international chain of underworld safehouses where nobody is to be killed (ha), Wick is now left with nowhere to go, and in grave danger of being dusted up by the baddies before, ultimately, killed.
Buuuut he’s the hero and we know that’s not going to happen. Right. Right?
John Wick 3 Australia Release Date
Australian fans will be particularly pleased to know that John Wick 3’s Australian release date is exactly the same as the release date in the US. There was some kerfuffle with the last film surrounding StudioCanal’s ability to get it in front of the classification board in time, and while questions still remain, it’s great to see they have ensured that they won’t be repeating the same mistake for film number three.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum will be released in Australian cinemas in the 16th of May.
