Tom Cruise Goes Bike Base Jumping in Official ‘Mission: Impossible’ Trailer
Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt is ready to risk it all in the pulse-pounding official trailer for Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The upcoming film will serve as the thrilling first chapter in a captivating two-part saga and promises to deliver the ultimate send-off to the star’s iconic character.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie from a screenplay he wrote together with Erik Jendresen, the seventh instalment will see Tom Cruise’s Hunt and his IMF team embarking “on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands.” While the official trailer doesn’t go heavy on the film’s plot, it provides a jaw-dropping spectacle of death-defying stunts and adrenaline-pumping action that has become synonymous with the franchise.

We also get a peek at the impending danger that awaits Cruise’s Hunt and his formidable IMF team. The clip highlights a thrilling car chase featuring Hayley Atwell as Grace, followed by Tom Cruise’s punchy dialogue delivery and that jaw-dropping sequence where Tom Cruise fearlessly leaps off a cliff on a bike. New footage of Cruise’s Hunt squaring off against his formidable villain Gabriel, played by Esai Morales, atop the train’s roof is thrown in too.
The trailer also hints at Hunt’s haunted past, with Ving Rhames’ Luther posing a crucial question to Hunt regarding his “ultimate objective,” seemingly teasing a deeper conflict within our hero. As the preview unfolds, we witness Hunt’s unwavering loyalty to his teammates, as he is ready to place their lives above the seemingly (impossible) mission at hand.

As per Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’s synopsis, “With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.”
Besides Cruise’s central character, the movie sees Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Ving Rhames reprising their roles. New faces to join the ensemble include Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Esai Morales as well as Cary Elwes, Shea Whigham, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Rob Delaney and Greg Tarzan Davis in supporting roles.
Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One hits theatres on July 14, 2023.
