The Star Wars: Skywalker Saga Comes Out in a Box Set

With “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” wrapping up the nine movie franchise, it shouldn’t be a surprise that collections offering the whole series are starting to pop up. Best Buy has listed one such collection, the Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga box set.

Best Buy lists the Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga set at $249.99, which calculates out to be about $28 per episode. The collection comes in a large, specially designed box that holds a large book that is made up of pages that enclose each of the nine films—“The Phantom Menace,” “Attack of the Clones,” “Revenge of the Sith,” “A New Hope,” “Empire Strikes Back,” “Return of the Jedi,” “The Force Awakens,” “The Last Jedi,” and “The Rise of Skywalker.” “Rogue One” and “Solo” won’t be included as they aren’t part of the Skywalker saga.

In total, there are 27 discs in the collection. If you have basic math skills, then you can deduce that nine of those discs will be the movies themselves. That leaves an additional 18 discs that will contain special features. This collection does mark the first time that all the movies—both original and prequel trilogies—are available in 4K UHD. It’s unclear if these versions of the original trilogy will be the theatrical version or the special editions. It’s also unclear exactly when this box set will be available. Undoubtedly the release will wait for “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” to ship separately, and there’s been no word on when that will happen yet. Most likely the release will be in the spring of 2020. The Canadian Best Buy site listed the release as March before the post was scrubbed from their site.

If you can’t wait until then, you can always sign up for Disney+ and watch the movies via the streaming service.
