While Adam Sandler was busy going viral for wearing his best blue hoodie to the awards, and Timothée Chalamet was doing a melted butter impersonation, the rest of the 2025 Oscar nominees were adhering to the strict guidelines of the black tie event, including Adrien Brody who continued his streak of statement diamond brooches.
Classic tuxedos, white shirts, and bow ties were the popular choice for the night. However, some of the most stylish men in attendance did their best with accessories, and we’re not talking about flashy timepieces. No, the actors were embracing the Art Deco and Hollywood Glamour of the 1920s and 30s by adding a statement brooch to their tuxedo. Colman Domingo added a vintage Boucheron brooch to his red jacket and Jeff Goldblum’s purple and green boutonnière was a highlight, but none of these pieces were as eye-catching as The Brutalist Best Actor winner Adrien Brody’s choice.
Like a good luck charm, the actor worked with bespoke high jewellery designer Elsa Jin for this piece, which is similar to those he wore at the Met Gala, Golden Globes, and Venice Film Festival.

Now 51, this is not Brody’s first Academy Award. He has previously won the Best Actor award in 2003 for his role in The Pianist. Still, winning Best Actor for The Brutalist puts him in elite company with those who have a 100% win rate at the Oscars from two or more nominations, including Kevin Spacey, Hilary Swank, Vivien Leigh, Luise Rainer, Christoph Waltz, Helen Hayes and Mahershala Ali.
His run of statement brooches has also closely coincided with several awards for his leading role in The Brutalist, including:
- BAFTA, Best Actor
- Critics Choice Award, Best Actor in a Leading Role
- Golden Globe, Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture
“Thank you god for this blessed life,” said Brody in his speech. “If I may just humbly begin by giving thanks for the tremendous outpouring of love that I felt from this world and every individual that has treated me with respect and appreciation.”
“I feel so fortunate,” he continued. “Acting is a very fragile profession. It looks very glamorous and in certain moments it is, but the one thing that I’ve gained having the privilege to come back here is to have some perspective. No matter where you are in your career, no matter what you’ve accomplished, it can all go away.”
Now, Brody turns his attention to his upcoming film Emperor where he will play Roman Emperor Charles V.
