Moncler Taps Snowboard Legend Shaun White for Grenoble SS23 Collection
If Moncler was trying to prove that its high-fashion winter ski-wear is capable of taking on the slopes, tapping three-time Olympic gold medalist in half-pipe snowboarding, Shaun White is a pretty good start. The X Games record holder and certified ‘King of the Mountain’ stars in the Monestier-de-Clermont-born fashion house’s new Grenoble SS23 collection which is, somewhat unsurprisingly, shot against a blistering white backdrop of snow and slate.

Much like Louis Vuitton before it, Moncler is using White’s esteemed legacy as one of the greatest Winter Games athletes of all time to elevate the functionality of the new Grenoble collection. And it’s hard to argue against the theory. With a list of snow-based accolades that runs almost as long as the downhill slalom, White is the archetype ambassador for outerwear and his role in the latest campaign feels far from out of place.
The Moncler Spring/Summer 23 Grenoble Collection arrives loaded with essential and versatile garments, each of which has been put to the test by White himself. According to an official release, the new range centres around layering, with the goal of crafting a wardrobe that “flexes to fit all kinds of weather and activity”.
To achieve this, Moncler has revamped outerwear pieces with lightweight layers, highlighted by technical details such as GORE-TEX technology, interior phone pockets and water-repellent zip closures. Further to this, base layers have been crafted from patented Sensitive Fabrics, which Moncler claims will not only allow the body to breathe but to also dry quickly after exertion.
While Moncler has kept with tradition by giving some rather avant-garde descriptions of the new pieces (including symbiotic outfitting), the overall messaging is clear. Grenoble SS23 is about functional pieces that fit eh fashion-forward bill. Just take the Ultra-light windbreakers for example. The new outerwear pieces are designed to adapt to changing conditions, arriving with pull-out gloves that enable touchscreen technology. Plus when not in use, the windbreaker can be tucked away in its own self-stow pocket.
Outside of that, you’ll find a staple collection of key pieces that embody a mixed-purpose design, however, Moncler has kept the colour palette muted this tie around. The entire collection is delivered in an array of neutrals punctuated with accents of pink for women and acid orange/cobalt blue for men. The Moncler Grenoble Spring/Summer 2023 collection is available now in select Moncler boutiques and via the brand’s official online boutique.
