Australian actor Dacre Montgomery is no stranger to playing the lead, but his latest role is turning a few heads. The bonafide Stranger Things star has debuted as POLITIX’s new brand ambassador, helping to steer the launch of the brand’s new campaign, ‘The Gentle Man’. The campaign is set to challenge modern masculinity, offering a fresh perspective and a new face. The campaign features Montgomery in a 30-second film, looking smart and assured, embodying the essence of the campaign: masculinity is what the wearer makes it.

Montgomery, 28, was born in Perth, WA and is best known for his role as Billy Hargrove in the Netflix series Stranger Things and for his recent role of Steve Binder in Baz Luhrmann’s ELVIS, His current project, however, is to help POLITIX redefine masculinity with a new character. “We all wear masks. I have played many characters in my career as an actor, but the biggest journey has been learning to be myself,” said Montgomery.
In discussing ‘The Gentle Man’s’ campaign and themes, Montgomery reveals, “Growing up, it felt like the expectations of masculinity were someone that played a sport, someone that was more overtly stereotypically masculine – and that wasn’t what I was…. thankfully I had parents who really allowed me to be myself. So I’ve learned to own my masculinity – and that means expressing an identity that doesn’t need to fit into a box.”
The campaign marks the beginning of a new era for POLITIX, one that encourages wearers to be self-assured and stylish, to redefine masculinity for themselves. The coinciding collection focuses on premium fabrications and a broader range of fits for the colder months ahead. Styles from their autumn/winter collection are featured, and wearers are encouraged to experiment with layering. Suits styled with textured knitwear, overcoats, and casual jackets, all delivered in a range of autumnal colours from winter and biscuit white to chocolate brown and phthalo green.
“Winter is one of my favourite times of the year, I love dressing up and expressing myself with layering, oversized coats and playing with textures. A highlight from the collection for me is the new premium range of wool suits layered back with knitwear” said Dacre. “At the shoot, I wore a roll-neck knit underneath a more relaxed fit wool suit. It’s a look I’m really backing this winter.”
This season POLITIX has also introduced Australian wool suiting, an excellent compliment to the clothing brands’ Australian cotton chinos and tailored shirts. ‘The Gentle Man’ Autumn Winter campaign is available now at POLITIX.com.au
