UNIQLO’s latest collection, ‘A Sense of Ease’, is a sigh of delightful relief in a time of option overload. The Spring/Summer 2023 range offers a modern and timeless wardrobe designed for the everyday and focused on making life easier. Get ready to re-image your wardrobe in a pragmatic yet polished manner with contemporary silhouettes, innovative materials and some of UNIQLO’s most playful designs yet.
Artistic director Christophe Lemaire and his UNIQLO R&D team in Paris designed the fifty-item series with the highest precision to achieve a simplified, modern collection. The ensemble features minimal and versatile items to build a classic and considered wardrobe for your everyday.
Materials include soft, matte cotton and lightweight AIRism fabric for superior wearing and practicality, with a carefully curated colour palette for easy pairing of pieces- in every possible combination.
“We design for everyday life… It’s what we focus a lot of our time on, the placement and construction of details, pockets, drawstrings and other modular elements,” Lemaire said when asked about the brand’s focus on utility detailing. “Focusing on utility pushes us to rethink function in our daily life and our new habits. We want all elements of our clothes to be designed for use and each element functional.”
The Seersucker Striped Short Sleeve Shirts in Cream and Beige and Wide-Leg Easy Shorts in Natural and Navy are a tone setter for the collection. Both pieces are cotton made and wide-fitted for an easy summer silhouette. The entire range is a playful take on menswear staples, presenting unexpected combinations and a range of textures.
Other highlights include the easy-to-layer oversized utility jacket and the Wide-Fit Parachute Pants with adjustable drawstrings at the hem. For accessories, the cult unisex drawstring shoulder bag is back, alongside a new addition bucket hat- a marriage of form and function and a perfect closet top off.
