  • Hollywood star Henry Cavill has been announced as Ambassador of Elegance for Swiss watchmaker Longines.
  • The acclaimed actor is best known for his role as Superman in Man of Steel and for his performances in The Man From U.N.C.L.E.The Witcher, and Mission: Impossible.
  • As part of the partnership, Cavill will visit the brand’s headquarters in Saint-Imier, Switzerland.

For decades, Swiss watchmaker Longines has represented the very pinnacle of traditional sophistication and class. The Saint-Imier producer’s long and storied collection of aviation, chronograph and dress watches has an innate ability to traverse trends, typifying the maison’s approach to functionality and form. Whether it be the elegance of the Master Collection, the precision of the Conquest lineup or the multi-lateral functionality of its much-loved Spirit GMT pieces, in Longines, you find the kind of subtle refinement that only comes with confidence. In 2025, the brand welcomes a new face who exemplifies that very notion.

Longines has confirmed Hollywood superstar Henry Cavill as its latest Ambassador of Elegance, a title reserved for the maison’s most influential partners, and it must be said that the partnership is a perfect fit. On-screen, we’ve seen Cavill play a multitude of remarkably sophisticated, suave and intricately layered characters, from his turn as the tortured hunter in The Witcher to the enigmatic assassin in Mission: Impossible, however, there is one role that stands above all others.

As the titular hero in the 2013 blockbuster Man of Steel, Cavill donned the famous red cape and blue suit, stepping into the shoes of the Great American hero. His performance as Superman was lauded as one of the most authentic ever put to screen, and in the years that have passed, we have found out why. A man of great integrity and honour, Cavill has proven to be the utmost gentleman and, as Longines CEO Matthias Breschan explained, it was precisely these qualities that drew the brand in.

“In Henry, we recognise a real affinity with our brand’s values,” Breschan said. “His sophistication, genuine warmth and multifaceted personality reflect what elegance means today. Whether commanding the screen in epic productions or sharing his passions for aviation and equestrianism, he maintains an authenticity and grace that makes him a clear embodiment of the Longines spirit.”

To accompany the announcement, Longines unveiled a first look at Cavill wearing a number of statement pieces. The campaign images show the A-lister wearing what appears to be a Master Collection Chrono Moonphase, Ref. L2.673.4.78.3, along with a Flagship Heritage Moonphase Ref. L4.815.4.78.2. The former is a classic chronograph timepiece that features Longines’ remarkable calibre L687 self-winding mechanical movement. An innovation that beats 28’800 vibrations per hour; this movement boasts a power reserve of up to 66 hours to go along with its stunning, three-sub-dial layout.

The Flagship Heritage, on the other hand, is a testament to timeless style. Inspired by the original 1957 Flagship model, this release is best characterised by its stunning 18-carat gold and Grand Feu enamel medallion on the case back. The medallion has served as the line’s emblem since that inaugural release, depicting a caravel heading full sail across a vivid blue enamel sea. With a new ambassador at the helm, the iconic lineup is sailing towards a bold new future.

As one of the most recognisable faces in Hollywood, Cavill has amassed an enormous following and for many, his work beyond the screen has been just as fascinating. The accomplished actor, gamer and producer launched his own production company, Promethean Productions, in 2014 and his dedication to original storytelling has helped create pathways for meaningful projects. With Longines, Cavill has the opportunity to be part of a remarkable story of ingenuity, innovation and legacy.

“What draws me to Longines is their understated elegance,” says Cavill. “True quality doesn’t need to announce itself. It’s evident in every detail and in every action. This is a philosophy, backed by generations of precision craftsmanship and artistry, that resonates deeply with my own values.”

As part of the new partnership, Cavill is set to take time out of his schedule to visit the brand’s historic headquarters in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Here, the new Ambassador of Elegance will witness firsthand the dedication to craftsmanship that has defined the Swiss watchmaker for nearly two centuries.
