Due to its transparent and ultra-resistant qualities, sapphire crystal is a mainstay in the watch world, but generally as a protective layer. That was until Hublot decided to experiment with the ultra-complex material a few years back, facilitating its industrialisation in the process. Having previously pushed the boundaries of sapphire with the Art of Fusion range, the brand just unleashed another chapter in its colourimetric quest. Extremely limited in supply, the new Sapphire Hublot timepieces explore the specialty gemstone to its fullest possible potential.
Hublot’s new collection consists of four baseline models, each of which delivers unparalleled tiers of robustness and aesthetic. First up is the Big Bang MP-11 Green Saxem, a 45mm stunner with a 14-day power reserve. Peer through the fully transparent case to witness the manual-winding manufacture calibre and its seven barrels in all their glory. This watch is limited to just 20 pieces and priced at $176,000.
Next up is the Spirit of Big Bang Yellow Sapphire, which marks the first time that sturdy sapphire has been coloured yellow. The watch measures in at 45mm, shines like the sun, and withstands virtually any terrain or activity. Limited to 100 pieces, it’s priced at $169,000.
Hublot’s innovative quest soars to even greater heights with the Big Bang Tourbillon Sapphire. Representing the best of all worlds, this model combines ultra-resistant sapphire with in-house tourbillon movement. That high-quality movement is visible from literally every angle, as the case, dial, and strap are all transparent. The watch measures in at 45mm, delivers a 5-day power reserve, and costs $206,000. It’s limited to just 99 pieces.
Last but not least is the Big Bang One Click Sapphire. Touting some luxurious feminine appeal, it redefines Hublot’s popular Big Bang One Click range by way of its stripped-down design. Equal parts elegant, modern, sporty, and chic, it features a 39mm case and comes available in three diamond-studded variants. Prices range from $74,000 to $110,000.
Revolutionary material, radical colour, and steadfast mechanics collide on Hublot’s new Sapphire Collection. Each watch is unmistakable at first sight and absolutely resilient to boot. Why settle for mere sapphire crystal coating when you can go for the whole hog instead? Naturally, the privilege will cost you.
