- Tissot has unveiled four new versions of the famous Le Locle watch.

It often goes unheralded just how massive Tissot’s influence is on the Swiss watch market. While other brands in the Swatch Group lineup may boast greater prestige and more luxury price points, the heritage producer’s penchant for affordable, intricate and precise timepieces has made it an undeniably enticing prospect for watch lovers. Nowhere is this more evident than with the Le Locle, a timepiece inspired by Tissot‘s spiritual home.
First unveiled in 2003 to celebrate the maison’s 150th anniversary, the Le Locle collection is very much an ode to Tissot’s roots. It features design cues lifted directly from the town’s landmarks, including the famous church clock tower and neighbouring Neuchâtel canton mountains, evoking a refined elegance that demands attention but doesn’t fall into the territory of opulence. With the 2025 edition, Tissot has taken things one step further, adorning the new timepiece with a Powermatic 80 movement—the very same calibre that drives the brand’s much-revered PRX collection.

The latest Le Locle collection comprises four new models—two in stainless steel with green dials and two with an 18k rose gold fluted bezel paired with matching rose gold Roman indexes. The latter features a rim engraved with five distinct stamps, including the St-Bernard marking which certifies the gold standard. The smaller diameter models, which measure 29mm, are also fitted with diamonds, adding a subtle shine to an already luxurious Clous de Paris-patterned dial.
As with Tissot watches, however, the real value for money is on the inside. The latest Le Locle models each feature a Swiss automatic movement, however, the 39.3mm men’s gold version cops the COSC-certified (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronométres) Powermatic 80, ensuring the watch’s continuous accuracy and precision. When combined with Tissot’s well-documented history of Nivachron balance spring technology, the movement starts to feel a little more advanced than its AUD$2,830 price tag might suggest—but exactly the play that the brand is going for.
A Swiss watchmaker revered for its enormous range of affordable timepieces, Tissot is a prime example of a brand that understands its place in the market. Nothing on the Le Locle feels out of place, but rather, each addition makes for a more inviting and interesting wear. A COSC-certified timepiece with a much-loved movement and a design that harks back to a bygone era of classic watchmaking, the Tissot Le Locle is every bit a modern classic and for under $3,000, you’d be hard-pressed to find better value.
