What is ‘Until Tomorrow’? Instagram’s Most Boring Challenge Explained
If you, like 20 per cent of the earth’s population, have found yourself under some kind of lockdown restrictions, chances are you’ve been spending a bucketload of time on Instagram. What’s more, you’ve probably also found yourself confronted with a bunch of unflattering photos filtering through your feed with the caption ‘Until Tomorrow‘. If you haven’t, consider yourself lucky. Until Tomorrow is the latest Instagram challenge that is seemingly spreading like wildfire. It’s also one of the most boring, but I guess without the pretty backgrounds and beach shots, it’s hard to keep things interesting.

The Until Tomorrow Instagram Challenge
Just like the BottleCapChallenge and the WhatTheFluffChallenge before it, #UntilTomorrow capitalises on our peak boredom levels as we all attempt to pass the time. This one focuses less on skill or entertainment, however. Until Tomorrow challengers post embarrassing, unflattering, or funny photos of themselves on their main account for 24 hours, before removing them.
Here’s how it works:
- Post a photo or a series of photos that fit the challenge, with the caption “until tomorrow” or the hashtag #UntilTomorrow.
- Leave the photo up on your main account for 24 hours.
- Take it down, but note everyone who liked the post and direct-message them with the same challenge.
That’s it. No cool spins or talented dance moves. Just you at home by yourself, posting your worst photos out into the ether of the world wide web. No wonder it’s a hit. Understandably, not everyone is a fan of the Until Tomorrow trend, but for the most part, it’s more confusion than criticism.

While the #UntilTomorrow trend is one we can’t really get behind, it has definitely spurred some absolute gems. Not that we can share them with you, because in a matter of hours, they’ll be gone. Instead, we’re championing the #uNtiltOmoRroW challenge, a counter-reaction that is calling out the cringy Gen Z move. Here is a list of all our favourite reactions to the Until Tomorrow challenge, some of which are infinitely better than the posts themselves.
