An Exceptional Expression
Aged for 17 years and finished in a white Madeira cask, this limited-edition dram was personally chosen by Laphroaig’s chef partner, Francis Mallmann. The Argentine fire chef and Patagonian cuisine specialist known for his feature on Chef’s Table, hand selected the whisky during a visit to Laphroaig’s Islay home, and we can see why. The whisky contained in each of the 276 bottles sees Laphroaig’s signature smokiness enhanced by the richness of the white Madeira cask, making for a singular 17-year-old expression boasting an incredible depth of character.
Holding the glowing ember liquid to your nose, you’ll detect sweet notes of honey with a touch of mango, which gives way to flaked almonds and demerara sugar with heavy notes of tanned leather. Taking a sip, you’ll encounter notes of pepper and spice, which make way for the sweetness of orange zest and tropical fruit, followed by salted caramel intermingled with unmistakable notes of peat smoke and sea salt.
