There’s a World Latte Champion Behind the Re-Opening of this Sydney Cafe

As a former co-founder of The Grounds, Jack Hanna is partially responsible for changing Sydney’s cafe and coffee scene. A former World Latte Champion in his own right, Jack has re-launched The Goodsline after a few hard months enduring another Sydney lockdown. The Cafe brings a new focus on community in the heart of an ever-emerging Pyrmont food scene with some of the best coffee going around and a killer brunch menu.

“The Goodsline has evolved a lot since the initial opening. Pyrmont is a community hub where family is key, so I’ve had to take a step back, listen to the community and really rethink our offering… We’ve completely changed the menu and refurbished the venue to make the cafe a lot more inviting, and it’s now at a place where I’m proud to re-open the doors,” said Hanna.

The brasserie-style menu is designed by Chef Chris Evanges (formerly Watsons Bay Hotel) with a classic brunch menu curated by Chef Jason Roberson featuring, french toast with espresso Marscapone, caramelised walnuts and orange curd, Mushrooms chermoula, and cauliflower toastie with three cheeses and whole grain mustard. There’s even a bespoke Poochie and Pup menu launching in early 2022 so your favourite four-legged friend can join in on the treats.

Like any good cafe, the heartbeats to the sound of a quality coffee machine, and the cafe features a state of the art customised KB90 La Marzocco machine known for its efficiency and exceptional design. Jack has specifically chosen the blend, landing on the famous ‘The Grounds Beanstalker’ blend that throws it back to the original Jack and Beans boutique coffee that launched his career. There’s also a to-die-for hot chocolate made from Callebaut ganache and Tumeric Spiced Chai Latte soaked in Manuka honey.

Expect a similar atmosphere to that of The Grounds with a creative outfit spearheaded by Sydney-based architect and design firm Luchetti Krelle. A number of Persian carpets and linen curtains line outer edges, with booth-style banquettes reminiscent of old-style train seats filling the space. If you’re in Pyrmont, we reckon you might’ve just found your new ‘spot’.
