This Tea House Doubles as a Gin Palace by Night
What: Tea house that doubles as a gin bar.
Where: G&Tea, The Star Sydney.
Price: from $55pp
We’ll admit to living under the proverbial rock when it came to G&Tea in The Star Sydney. A tea room that doubles as a gin bar at night certainly sounds like our spot and with a decadent menu to accompany some of the best and rarest teas in the world we wish we knew about this place sooner.
Settled amongst the plush navy and rose velvet chairs, marble benchtops and golden lighting, diners can enjoy freshly-baked scones with housemade jam and chantilly cream (tick) alongside a carefully curated set menu of savoury and sweet bites designed to share. Other favourites of ours include cajun prawn remoulade with charred lemon served on a brioche bun and a delicate rye sandwich with smoked salmon, cream cheese, fennel and orange. For those with a sweet tooth, a vanilla bean panna cotta topped with gin-infused rhubarb and raspberry and a matcha & yuzu choux au craquelin.
The indulgent high tea menu ($55 per person) is served with a choice of tea or coffee, or can be upgraded to include sparkling wine (an additional $10 per person) or champagne (an additional $20 per person).
Once the sun sets, gin becomes the star of the show with a selection of Australia’s finest gins – served in classic gin & tonics or gin spritzes. You’ll also find innovative gin cocktails on the menu, like the G&Tea Martini with grown botanica gin, noilly prat & lishan tea, the Botanical Drop with grown botanica gin and lemon, and the Hummingbird Splice with roku gin, frangelico, pineapple and lime.
G&Tea is open seven days a week from 8:00am to 8:00pm, with high tea available from midday to 4:00pm Thursday to Sunday. For more information and to book, check out the link below.
Ging Thai Seafood Sundays
When: 13 March – 26th June 2022
What: Three tiers of Seafood at Ging Thai
Price: $160pp
We love nothing more than a seafood tower… and every Sunday until the end of June, Ging Thai will be selecting the finest locally sourced seafood and adding a contemporary Thai twist for ‘Seafood Sundays’ – a stunning three-tiered seafood delight to enjoy with friends.
Best shared alongside a few wines and good company, the South East Asian dishes will include cooked and chilled half shell scallops served with Thai style chilli fruit salad, wok-tossed blue swimmer crab cooked with scallions, heirloom tomato and sriracha sauce, as well as char-grilled half Panang marinated lobster finished with Thai basil and lime-infused oil.
This multi-tiered platter also comes served with a selection of seasonal Thai salads, jasmine rice, roti bread (yum) and betel leaf prawn curry sauce for happy dipping, so you will definitely leave more than satisfied. The restaurant recommends sharing between 2-3 people and matching the dishes with Wynn’s Reframed Cabernet Rose.
