MYSLF by YSL
Nick Hall – Editor-in-Chief
I’ve always been a huge fan of YSL as a brand, but until recently, I wasn’t fully across the French luxury house’s fragrance offering. With MYSLF, the unisex scent championed by Austin Butler, I’ve found something that I can certainly get behind. This woody floral fragrance combines the freshness and vibrancy of bergamot with the sweetness of orange blossom and tops it off with a hint of Indonesian patchouli. If that all sounds like gibberish to you, don’t stress—all you need to know is that this fragrance will surprise and delight even your most fervent of critics.

The Secret Don Julio 1942 Tequila Bar in the Birdcage
Scott Purcell – Co-Founder
I’m off to Derby Day tomorrow, and one thing I’m super keen to seek out is Don Julio 1942’s secret Tequila Bay inside the Melbourne Cup Carnival birdcage. ‘Club Rosado: By Don Julio’ is a pink-hued party oasis catered by Orlando Marzo, who is one of the World’s Best Bartenders (2018 Global World Class Champion)—but how do you get into this exclusive bar?
There’ll be a pink crew roaming around the birdcage, handing out a playful calling card, inviting them to escape to the bar. You’ll then enter via the Rosado Phone Box and a simple ‘Dial for Don Julio’ will unveil the entryway to this hidden experience, marked by the turn of the concealed Man in The Hat doorknob.
Once inside, you’ll be treated to a Rosado Glitterati, a sparkling rosé wine-infused pink grapefruit, lime and agave syrup delight, made with Don Julio Rosado. Fancy a snack? There’s also a glitter-sprayed (yes, glitter), Mexican-inspired tostada featuring candied grapefruit, salmon and guacamole. Hidden within Club Rosado: By Don Julio lies yet another secret: the ultra-exclusive Secret Don Julio 1942 Tequila Bar. Accessible through a concealed door, a select few will be invited into this intimate, luxurious setting. It’s safe to say that I won’t be watching too many of the races if I get lost in this rose-and-pink paradise.

GetSashimi Coogee
Harry Parsons – Senior Branded Content Manager
I have been on a health kick my entire life, the one diet that I have stuck to day in and day out is the seafood diet, I see food and I eat it… In all seriousness I do love seafood and when I heard that there was Getsashimi opening in Coogee my weekend plans were locked in.
My first impression rocking up was being astounded by the sheer quantity of fresh seafood, sashimi and sushi on offer, it was incredibly hard not to say I would take the lot. Settling on some Tasmanian Salmon, Tuna, Oysters and various assortments of sushi, I made my way to Coogee Beach, which turns out was everyone else’s idea. The place was full of everyone digging into fresh seafood, turns out Coogee is where my people are at.
The quality of all the food was absolutely incredible! The sashimi was freshly sliced in front of us and melted in our mouths. The Sushi was delicately created, especially their tuna sandwich comprised of layers of salmon, rice, thinly sliced avocado and topped with flowers and fish roe. They even managed to level up oysters, which is a crazy thought, by including caviar and fish roe. No cap this was the best Oyster I have had in a very very long time. If you are a seafood fanatic like myself, then this is a must-try!

Nintendo Does The Weirdest Shit
Dean Blake – Journalist – Tech, Entertainment & Features
While I’m not particularly interested in the company’s take on an alarm clock, Nintendo quietly dropped its own music streaming app on iOS and Android this week which is, frankly, my dream come true. The ‘Nintendo Music’ app, as it’s creatively called, brings all the best music from across the gaming giant’s decades of video games, puts it all in one place, and lets you stream it in excellent quality.
You’ll need to have a paid Nintendo Online account (which I do, thankfully), but it’ll sync with that account and show you soundtracks for games you already own, as well as warn you if a particular song is from a part of a game you haven’t played yet and if it’ll spoil something for you.
The most exciting part of this for me though is the ability to ‘extend’ certain songs for 15, 30, or 60 minutes, essentially allowing you to use the Nintendo Music app as a white noise machine, or to help get through a particularly busy part of the day. Just put on your favourite track, extend it to how long you want to work for, and block everything else out.

Alex Martinez – Media Sales and Brand Partnerships
The Nespresso 2024 Advent Calendar is a delightful way to count down to the festive season. With a range of 24 coffee capsules, including limited-edition flavours (my favourite being almond croissant) co-created with celebrated chef Jean Imbert, each day brings a nice surprise for coffee lovers. Whilst it’s a must-have for coffee fanatics such as myself, it is also perfect for gifting. In addition to this, Nespresso has released an entire festive collection, including accessories, that is worth checking out.
