For the past few months, allegations surrounding Braden Eric Peters – the 20-year-old streamer better known online as “looksmaxxing” figure Clavicular – have largely played out in US civil court. Now, he is reportedly facing criminal charges.
Court records indicate Peters is facing three charges in Massachusetts: rape, drugging a person for sexual intercourse, and a misdemeanour offence relating to procuring alcohol while under the age of 21.
The case, first reported by The Bulwark, was filed in Orleans District Court on 8 September after a judge found probable cause for all three charges. A criminal complaint and summons followed, with Peters scheduled for arraignment on 14 October.
Those charges appear to stem from allegations first raised in a Florida civil lawsuit filed earlier this year, involving an alleged incident at Peters’ family home on Cape Cod in May 2025.
That suit alleged Peters invited a then-17-year-old female influencer to the property, allegedly supplied her with alcohol, and engaged in sexual acts while she was “unable to give consent.” It further alleged he had sex with her again the following morning while she was asleep.
None of the allegations have been proven in court. While the criminal docket lists the alleged offence date as 23 May 2025, the full statement of facts detailing the prosecution’s precise allegations has not yet been made public.
Peters previously denied the civil claims through his lawyer, Steve Kramer. “These are allegations only and remain unproven. denies the claims and disputes the characterisation of events,” Kramer told Rolling Stone. Addressing the new criminal filing, Peters told The Hollywood Reporter that The Bulwark was “exaggerating the status of a case to boost traffic,” adding that he had not been served with legal documents related to the case.
While Peters has not formally addressed the civil suit on his social channels, he previously posted on X complaining about “the consistent theme of girls trying to use me for money,” adding that he hoped to find someone whose “intent is to not to screw me over and take my money.”
Peters is one of the most prominent figures in the modern “looksmaxxing” subculture, an online movement focused on measuring, ranking, and aggressively optimising male physical appearance.
With criminal proceedings now underway, Peters faces a significantly heightened legal challenge. While his online career has previously been marked by content bans, platform removals, and media controversies, the impending arraignment marks a shift into a far more serious legal arena.
