You May Need the Force to Create these Papercraft Star Wars Busts

Masters of papercrafting will appreciate Studio66Designs’ papercaft Star Wars busts. These busts, which measure 24.4 inches high by 22 inches wide by 13 inches deep, are made completely from folded paper. This is origami on steroids! The posting says that it’s as simple as printing out the template, cutting, and then gluing, but no doubt much more effort goes into these masterpieces than is described. Studio66Designs has a Darth Vader version available. You can also purchase a Stormtrooper bust.

The instructions call for a printer and 39 sheets of 160-220 gram paper. You’ll also need a utility knife or scissors, a ruler, and a glue stick. They do rate the difficulty level as “hard,” but also claim that “assembling is easy, even kids will cope.”

The good news is that the finished busts look amazing. They have an incredible amount of detail considering that they are nothing more than cut and folded pieces of paper glued together. If you’re up to the challenge, the busts consist of 113 parts printed onto 39 pages. Completion time is estimated at 12 to 18 hours, so get ready for a Star Wars marathon as you cut, fold, and glue—and don’t forget to use the Force.
