Lace-up your boots and get ready to be swept away by Messi’s magic. Apple TV+ is set to score big with an epic four-part docu-series that will take audiences deep into the heart and soul of the legendary superstar. Furthermore, football fans will get an up-close and personal look at Lionel Messi’s FIFA World Cup odyssey, as he led the Argentina national team to an unforgettable victory in Qatar last year.

Apple’s yet-to-be-named Messi series has been filmed in Paris, Qatar and Argentina and will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes access, “tracking the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner through his five FIFA World Cup appearances and his FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 win, in one of the most exciting finals in history.”

The streaming service’s announcement follows some other captivating contract signing updates. In what may go down as the most monumental signing in MLS history, the 35-year-old Argentine forward recently made the bold decision to take his exceptional talents to South Beach (joining Inter Miami) after bidding farewell to the French champions, PSG. Furthermore, it’s being reported that Messi will be entitled to a share of the revenue generated from new subscribers to Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass streaming service as part of the negotiations.

Apple’s statement reads, “From Qatar’s training grounds to the chaos of press junkets to the quiet contemplation of Messi’s private room, the series highlights a thrilling mash-up of the public and private worlds of the planet’s top living athlete as well as that of his loyal supporters across Argentina and those who made the pilgrimage to Qatar.”

“The series also features the most personal interviews to date with Messi, alongside conversations with teammates, coaches, competitors, devout fans, and commentators testifying to the incredible influence and impact he has on a nation and the world, along with the grace, fortitude and willpower he has demonstrated throughout his career.”

Mere weeks before the tournament kicked off, Messi shared a candid revelation with the series producers: “It would be the ultimate experience to win a World Cup and be able to close out my career in that way. I’ve daydreamed about it after many years of fighting for it. I made a million possibilities of what could happen… the first match, the round of 16, the quarterfinals, the semi-final and the final. I’m also going to live it as something special because it’s the last one. To finish my last year winning a World Cup would be the dream ending.”
