Ryan Gosling Set to Live in Australia for Latest Blockbuster

Australia is about to get a lot sexier, with Ryan Gosling set to move Down Under. The 41-year-old will star in a new movie, The Fall Guy, expected to be shot in Sydney and rural New South Wales later this year. While we don’t think the Canadian will struggle to find accommodation, perhaps he could bunk with former Nice Guys co-star Russell Crowe.

The film is based on the action television series of the same name, which aired from 1981 to 1986. It follows a Hollywood stuntman named Colt Stevens – likely played by Gosling – who doubles as a bounty hunter.

The federal and NSW government are expected to cough up around AU$45 million for the major production. Communications Minister Paul Fletcher believes the development will inject over AU$244 million into the Australian economy.

“We are pleased to welcome The Fall Guy down under with $30 million in support from our highly successful Location Incentive, with the production to employ over 1000 Australian cast and crew, and more than 3015 Australian extras,” he said in a statement.

Following a fierce bidding war with Dwayne Johnson and WWE Studios, Universal won the opportunity to make the film. Taking a liking to the country, Universal produced Ticket In Paradise, starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts, in Queensland last year. Filming took place in the Whitsundays, Gold Coast and Brisbane, receiving a AU$6.4 million grant from the federal government’s Location Incentive Program.

“After a successful partnership on the studio’s production of Ticket to Paradise in Queensland, Universal is thrilled to return to Australia and base in New South Wales for the highly-anticipated film, The Fall Guy,” Universal Pictures’ president of physical production Jeff LaPlante said.

He continued, “The filmmakers and the Universal team are looking forward to working alongside the talented local crews to make this project a reality.”

It’s been widely reported that David Leitch of John Wick, Deadpool and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw would direct The Fall Guy, and filming would commence in August 2022.
