Lamb’s Back! ‘Slow Horses’ Season 5 Confirmed at Apple TV+

Apple TV+ has officially confirmed Slow Horses season five, just weeks after the Gary Oldman-led spy drama/thriller finished up season three. Adapted from Mick Herron’s Slough House series, the TV show evolves around a dysfunctional group of British intelligence agents, who, due to various career-ending reasons, find themselves relegated to Slough House, earning them the moniker “Slow Horses.” Guided by the unconventional and witty Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman), the team often finds themselves manipulated by their polished counterparts at Regents Park but consistently finds a way to come to the rescue.

Apple TV+‘s Slow Horses debuted in April 2022 and quickly gathered a dedicated fanbase. Within a year and a half of its premiere, the series secured pre-renewals for seasons three and four, with the recent third season finale airing in December of 2023. Apple isn’t looking to slow down and the upcoming season five of Slow Horses is set to launch the Slough House misfits deeper into the wacky world of espionage, guaranteeing even more laugh-out-loud hijinks as they tackle increasingly outlandish assignments.

As per the official logline for season five, “Everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Jackson Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, ‘London Rules’ should always apply.”

The upcoming season will be based on Mick Herron’s fifth book in the series, ‘London Rules,’ and see the return of Gary Oldman, who also received a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of cantankerous intelligence operative Jackson Lamb. Joining him will be Kristin Scott Thomas, reprising her role as MI5 second desk Diana Taverner, along with Jack Lowden as the espionage prodigy River Cartwright and Christopher Chung as the confident tech enthusiast Roddy Ho.

Slow Horses is produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films and adapted for the screen by Will Smith. Executive producers for the series include Will Smith, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Julian Stevens, and Graham Yost. As of writing, no director for the upcoming fifth season has been announced and there’s also no official release date.
