Season five of Slow Horses isn’t even out yet, but the folks at Apple TV+ have already confirmed the Gary Oldman-led spy thriller is coming back for another season soon. The show, which has been incredibly well received, is due to return to our screens later this year, but a season six will be launching sometime in 2025.
The sometimes darkly funny espionage series is based on the work of author Mick Herron, whose ‘Slough House’ book series serves as the backbone of the show. Season six will be based on the sixth and seventh books in the series, Joe Country and Slough House, which introduce loveable (?) new characters, new threats, and brings the London-based team of spies into the age of Brexit.

Gary Oldman will, of course, be returning as the eccentric Jackson Lamb, a member of the Slow Horses – a misfit group of outcast MI5 members who have been pushed to the sidelines.
“Audiences around the world have fallen in love with the Slow Horses, and I’m delighted that Gary Oldman will be leading this star-studded cast on another acerbic and action-packed adventure,” said Apple TV+’s creative director for Europe Jay Hunt.
Oldman is far from the only cast member returning though, with the show’s ensemble cast coming back for another mission. Also returning are:
- Kristin Scott Thomas as Diana Taverner
- Jack Lowden as River Cartwright
- Saskia Reeves as Catherine Standish
- Rosalind Eleazar as Louisa Guy
- Christopher Chung as Roddy Ho
- Samuel West as Peter Judd
- Aimee-Ffion Edwards as Shirley Dander
- Ruth Bradley as Emma Flyte
- Tom Brooke as JK Cole
- Joanna Scanlan as Moira Tregorian
- Jonathan Pryce as David Cartwright

While we don’t know when season six will be launching, we do know that season five will be launched sometime in the next few months. Four seasons of Slow Horses are available to stream now on Apple TV+, which costs $12.99 a month following a seven-day free trial.
