‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*CK’ Trailer Highlights NYE Resolutions We Never Keep

In 2016, a little orange book with a very naughty word on the front cover took the world by storm. Written by American blogger and author Mark Manson, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*CK became a biblical text for yuppies attempting to suppress their insatiable hunger for success. Unfortunately, our unrelenting pursuit of greed lives on in 2022, so Universal Pictures has produced a cinematic documentary to refresh our memories. Hopefully, this more digestible medium will finally cut through…  Check out the trailer above.

While the film revolves around self-esteem and positivity, the preview attempts to mock traditional self-help platitudes we hear on the daily. Narrating the video, Manson calls BS on the notion that we are “special, unique and extraordinary” and our pursuit of “more” is the cause of our unhappiness. While the message holds true, we can only imagine Buddhists worldwide watching this and saying, “did he just steal our entire playbook?”

The official synopsis reads: “With over 15 million copies sold, The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*CK struck a chord with readers all over the world and now, its no bullshit, life-changing advice comes to the screen. Backed by both academic research and scatological jokes, The Subtle Art of Not Giving A #@%! shows us that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade but on learning to stomach lemons.”

Just in time for those new years resolutions we never keep, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*CK will be available on digital download from January 9.
