With the return of ‘traditional menswear’ as a leading fashion trend for 2022, brands have done what they can to rework collections in a quest to fulfil an expanding niche, but for others such as Scotch & Soda, it’s in their DNA. One look at their Spring 2022 collection and you can see that the timing is right for the brand, with a round-up of beautifully embroidered cardigans, gradient cotton sweaters, and yarn-dyed flannels. Those of us would be running to the keyboard to pen something along the lines of “Scotch & Soda’s Collection is a Stunning Return to Form,” if it wasn’t what they were doing already.

We won’t go as far as to call it ‘the return of menswear’ but with the resurgence of brands such as J.Crew, LL Bean, and even high-end brands such as Brunello Cucinelli to the cultural zeitgeist, we’ll show our thanks instead. Not sure where to point the finger for bringing on this trend – we find ourselves landing somewhere between TikTok, Inflation, and Aime Leon Dore – it seems good ol’ fashion ‘quality dressing’ is here to stay. And for that, we’re not going to complain.
Models Luka Isaac, Hidetatsu Takeuchi, and Martijn Faaij are featured from and centre for the Spring 2022 Campaign, with Scotch & Soda’s creative team venturing state-side for a taste of the 50s. Returning home with an Americana aesthetic that embodies bold 50s prints, denim, cardigans, and varsity jackets. An all-encompassing lineup that elevates classics to the forefront.
We love the use of creams and brown hues, but wherever necessary the brand also includes embroidered hits of palm trees, cactus, and desert flowers for an authentic American flavour. Vibrant colours are a standout on the knitted sweaters but also the chinos, hoodies, and t-shirts where they are featured in abundance to ‘summerize’ any outfit.
