Your favourite designer’s favourite social media page, HIDDEN NY is teaming up with ASICS again for a meshie white, grey, and green iteration of the popular ASICS GEL NYC silhouette. This release follows the duo’s highly sought-after GT-2160 sneaker that was released in limited numbers back in December 2023. This time, however, they’re keeping things simple with a light grey base offset with reflective details and HIDDEN’s electric green hues for contrast.
Release information: Look for the HIDDEN NY x ASICS GEL-NYC ($250 AUD) to be released through ASICS EQL from the 10th of April 2024 at 9:00 am before winners are selected from April 12th. EQL is a raffle system and is open to Australian Residents only with multi-step security verification to filter out bots. There’s also an ‘EQLizer’ feature that evens out the odds for a better chance of winning a future raffle.

HIDDEN says it’s all about creating a shoe that isn’t designer-inspired but rather designed for designers. Capiche? “The inspiration for this HIDDEN x ASICS GEL-NYC shoe lies within the digital landscape and was designed and built to attract the admiration of designers around the world,” said HIDDEN. “This new model is not a designer shoe, but rather a shoe for designers everywhere.”
Looking at the sneaker, it’s easy to understand what HIDDEN is talking about. The shoe references several designer-style elements throughout the upper, intentionally designed to deconstruct the boundary between reality and on-screen visuals.
Sneakerheads and ASICS collectors will immediately recognise the GEL-CUMULUS 16’s midsole that’s been added below the meshie upper. This unit uses a combination of lightweight foams and GEL technology inserts for the all-day comfort that’s expected from the brand.
The HIDDEN NY x ASICS GEL NYC will be released globally on April 12th, 2024. Those in Australia can access the ASICS EQL platform via the link below from 9 am on April 10th, 2024 to enter the raffle for a chance to buy the sneakers for a retail price of $250 AUD.
