Norse Projects x adidas is a Collaboration Built for Explorers

Copenhagen’s Norse Projects and adidas have continued their long-standing collaborative history with two new projects, Skychaser and Campus. The two-component shoe release is designed for the contrasting environments of city and wilderness. Such duality was inspired by Denmark’s remote and raw Faroe Islands.

Journey a thousand kilometres off the northwest coast of Denmark, and you will find the unscathed Faroe Islands and the stand-alone muse of the Adidas x Norse Projects collaboration. The Scandinavian archipelago encapsulates the dualities of nature – rugged and soft, light and dark. Subsequently, this served as the fount of inspiration for the recent project. The collaboration represents the duality of Norse Projects and their maxim, ‘Good for All Seasons’.

“The Faroe Islands is a place with many natural contrasts within a small area,” Norse Projects said of the collaboration. “Thanks to natural features like green hills, rugged waterfalls, and pilling sea stacks, the landscape can be soft and beautiful, or dark and dramatic all at once.”

Conceived for the navigator and explorer, the Skychaser represents the outdoors and is built for the varied terrains and lands of the Faroe Islands. Its construction is a testament to the design’s technicality, featuring a two-way stretch woven nylon resting on a Boost sole unit. The dark colours of glassy rock inspired the Ash Black and Deep Navy colour as the shore meets the sea.

“In true Norse projects style, our idea was to work around one highly functional model and one classic and timeless model,” Norse Projects said. “The Skychaser is a performance model for the outdoors that can be used in many environments. The Campus is a timeless classic that effortlessly speaks to the idea of a street uniform.

“The tongue on both models has been updated with lightweight foam for comfort and breathability. This design element ties the two models together despite them being in different categories. Both models appear dark, almost black, from afar but as you get closer, the colours show the native tones of the Faroe Islands environment.”

The casual and city-ready Campus is designed for the streets of Copenhagen and is a nod to the Norse Projects’ roots. The wearer may don them while pedalling along Nørrebrogade, then sit them down on the pier momentarily and stuff them with socks while they leap headlong into the harbour. The design represents the less rugged side of the Faroes; the rolling green hills and Saksun dwellings- a Faroe Islands village. The Campus is crafted with an English calf leather upper, while recycled elements are used for the stripes and heel overlay.

The adidas x Norse Projects Campus is priced at USD$190, while the adidas x Norse Projects Terrex Skychaser 2 is priced at USD$250. Both new collaborations sneakers are available new.
