The silhouette might be the most critical aspect in a footwear collaboration. Because two big-name brands link, it doesn’t always result in a sneaker of the year contender. While we would’ve liked to see a partnership between the brands on something like an XT-6, XT-4 or ACS Pro Advanced model, the chosen CSWP Shelter silhouette is both fully waterproof and packed full of performance, so we can’t complain. Carhartt WIP has added a workwear touch to the French footwear brand’s style, and the boot now resembles something urban utilitarian.
Lightly insulated to be worn in environments where the weather can take its toll, the palette features tonal plays on Carhartt classic greens, greys and blacks with pared-back branding that lends focus to the shoe’s technical nature. Indonesian vine camouflage finds its way to the footbed in classic Carhartt collab fashion, and the outsole is rugged and durable. The campaign video showcases the interplay between Salomon’s outdoor leaning aesthetic and Carhartt’s industrial metropolis nature.
