TAG Heuer Carrera Tourbillon Goes All-Titanium for the First Time

When TAG Heuer first introduced the Heuer 02T tourbillon five years ago, it set a new precedence for the iconic watchmaker. A sports watch that blended tourbillon mechanics with a chronograph function and a tachymeter, the release signified a changing of the guard. In 2021, TAG Heuer has done it again.

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Tourbillon has arrived in a stunningly refreshed package, albeit with the same technology that made the original release so successful. This time around, the tourbillon retains the same COSC-certified Heuer 02T calibre, but now sports an azure hue and a grade 2 titanium bracelet. While watch aficionados aren’t unfamiliar with the colour combination, the reveal does mark a first for TAG Heuer’s tourbillon range.

As we’ve come to expect from the marque’s tourbillon range, the new TAG Heuer 02T takes a bold and refreshing take on the concept. With a racing pedigree, it’s entirely unsurprising that this release is one of the sportier tourbillons on the market, offering a level of daily wear that few others in the category possess. It features 100-metre water resistance, automatic winding, a chronograph function, luminated indexes and a feather-light case with a power reserve of 65 hours.

Inside, the in-house movement is chronometer-certified, similar to previous Heuer 02T generations, meaning the new watch has an accuracy rating of at least -4/+6 seconds per day.  But above all else, the star of the new timepiece is the dial. Set in a dazzling cerulean blue, the watch also features bridges and bezel coloured to match. Additionally, the rubber that protects the crown and the push buttons are blue, along with the rotor, which can be seen through the sapphire caseback.

While tourbillons are certainly nothing new for the industry, TAG Heuer is proving once again there is still room to move in the sector. The TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 02T is a limited edition of 250 pieces, priced at AUD$30,400.
