Montblanc 1858 Monopusher Limited Edition for Hodinkee

Hodinkee is arguably the leading media publication for horology, and they do a pretty top notch job of covering everything watch-related. They’ve also got a knack for collaborating with watchmakers and selling out limited edition pieces in the blink of an eye. This time, Hodinkee has collaborated with Montblanc to create the 1858 Monopusher Limited Edition for Hodinkee. Featuring one of Montblanc’s greatest movements, the calibre MB M13.21, the 1858 Monopusher Limited Edition for Hodinkee is a beautiful affair. Oh, and like the cherry on top of the already super desirable cake, Hodinkee and Montblanc will be sending each lucky buyer to Villeret, home of Montblanc, early next year.

Breitling Aviator 8 Mosquito

Breitling seems to be making some pretty big strides since Georges Kern was announced head of the brand. And the next piece to set the pace is the Aviator 8 Mosquito. Featuring an aesthetic inspired by the onboard clocks designed by Breitling’s Huit Aviation Department in the 1930s and 1940s, the Aviator 8 Mosquito is steeped in tradition and culture. The watch also honours the de Havilland Mosquito, a British aircraft made out of a wooden construct, making it one of the fastest planes in the sky during the 1940s. I’m really enjoying this revamped look of Breitling’s chronographs, and the Aviator 8 Mosquito is absolutely no exception. Can’t wait to see what else Breitling will bring to the table!

A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Tourbillon “25th Anniversary”

The Lange 1 Tourbillon “25th Anniversary” is the final piece of ten-piece puzzle, celebrating A. Lange & Sohne’s illustrious Lange 1’s 25th anniversary. The Lange 1 Tourbillon “25th Anniversary” is an ode to the manufacture’s inventive, adventurous and raw nature, and its approach to the design and execution of the Lange 1 Tourbillon “25th Anniversary” is no different. Encased in white gold, featuring a solid silver dial with blued steel hands and an opening where the tourbillon is visible, the Lange 1 Tourbillon “25th Anniversary” is the hallmark A. Lange & Sohne piece, the perfect candidate to finish off the anniversary series of the Lange 1.

Mido Ocean Star Tribute Special Edition

New from one of our favourite budget-friendly manufacturers is the Ocean Star Tribute Special Edition. Celebrating the 75th anniversary of its Ocean Start Diver, the Ocean Star Tribute Special Edition pays tribute to the original watch’s durable, versatile and no-frills nature. Available with either a black or blue dial in a 40.50mm wide stainless steel case, you also have the option to strap it to a stainless steel bracelet, a technical fabric strap or a fabric looking leather strap. There’s a certain vintage look to the Ocean Star Tribute Special Edition that makes it super appealing, but not so much so that it looks tacky. I think Mido has done a tremendous job with the Ocean Star Tribute Special Edition.

Bulgari Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar Diamonds

What do you get when you add a dash of diamonds to one of Bulgari’s most complicated watches? Well, you get the Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar Diamonds. Featuring a grande sonnerie with a perpetual calendar (plus a moonphase), along with a chiming power reserve indicator AND a tourbillon, the Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar Diamonds is neither here nor there when it comes to conventional. Encased in white gold with a titanium mid-section and featuring a translucent black sapphire dial, the Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar Diamonds is the epitome of what I consider high end watchmaking. Available in a limited run of 8 pieces and priced north of a million Australian dollars. (Image courtesy of HODINKEE)
