Stone & Wood Chose Australia’s Top Craft Brewer For Its First Beer Collab

“We’ve been big fans of Mountain Culture since they burst onto the scene,” said Patrick Coulson, Brand Manager for Stone & Wood, after announcing the launch of the brand’s first collaboration beer with the fast-growing Blue Mountains brewery. Huge praise from one of the country’s biggest names, but something that MC has earned after winning back-to-back GABS Hottest 100 titles for its Status Quo Pale Ale.

“Stone & Wood are the trailblazers of Aussie craft beer and a real inspiration for us,” said DJ McCready, Founder of Mountain Culture. “We really wanted this beer to be something that represents the best of both breweries, full of flavour but highly sessionable. The exact kind of beer you’d want to stick in your backpack on an adventure into the mountains or to the coast.”

To make this beer come to life, the team from Stone & Wood travelled to the Blue Mountains with a tonne of their signature Galaxy hops (the main hop used in Pacific Ale) and a mission to create a beer with a creamy mouthfeel that matches the award-winning Status Quo.

Mountain Culture still considers themselves “the new kids on the craft beer block,” but they’re drawing success with great products and clever marketing. Production has increased over 4,000% at a time when the cost of living pressures and mounting alcohol taxes are costing the craft beer industry some of their best brewers.

Interestingly, Mountain Culture has been able to tap into and connect with millennials with 50% of their customers aged between 18 and 34. Ourselves included!

If you love great beer, you won’t want to miss out on this release. ‘Backpack Ale’ is available for pre-sale right now at mountainculture.com.au and will be available publicly from March 26th ($80 for a case of 16). It can be found in Liquorland, First Choice Liquor Market and Vintage Cellars stores nationally, as well as select licensed venues and independent bottle shops.
