Does Celestiq, the ‘Most Technologically Advanced Cadillac Ever’ Measure Up?
No matter how much Cadillac makes you think of classic, conservative luxury, the automaker is intent on proving it’s looking to the future. The new Cadillac Clestiq is the American marque’s “most technologically advanced Cadillac ever,” yet it remains true to that legacy of comfort and refinement. Hold onto your horses, the latest Tesla-challenging concept car might come from an old favourite.

“Celestiq is the purest expression of Cadillac, acknowledging our incredible history and driving us to a bolder and brighter future,” says Rory Harvey, the global vice president of Cadillac. “It is a completely bespoke work of automotive art, built around the most advanced and innovative technology that we have ever engineered into an automobile.”
That innovative technology starts with the Ultium Platform. This new feature is a dedicated EV propulsion that brings together a 111-kWh battery and two motors for an all-wheel-drive system boasting 600 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque. All that power doesn’t quickly drain the battery, though. The Celestiqu gets an estimated range of 300 miles, while still boasting a 0 to 60 miles per hour time of just 3.8 seconds. Charging is carried out by a fast-charging system that can restore 78 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

The Celestiq offers regenerative braking, but it also doesn’t need you to use the brake pedal because of its One-Pedal Driving, which can bring the vehicle to a slow stop using only the accelerator pedal. Celestiq also offers adaptive air suspension, active rear steering, magnetic ride control, advanced AWD, active roll control, active rear spoiler, electric power steering, and a 5-link front and rear suspension—all of which translate into one of the smoothest rides you’ll ever experience.
Perhaps just as exciting as the performance is the fact that no two Celestiqs will be alike. That’s because each is a custom-commissioned work of art.”Celestiq is like no Cadillac before it and the client experience is equally exceptional. Each vehicle is a unique expression of its owner, leveraging leading-edge technologies that make the driving experience personal and rewarding,” explains Harvey.
He goes on to say, “With an extremely low volume of hand-built vehicles to be offered globally each year and an exclusive declaration process, Celestiq will truly be a custom-commissioned one-of-one. Each client will experience a personalised journey to make their vehicle exactly the way they desire.” That’s definitely redefining luxury in the future.
