- UNIQLO’s Pokémon 30th Anniversary UT collection is now available in Australia, with adult tees priced at AUD $24.90 and kids’ styles at AUD $19.90.
- The Australian drop includes five adult and five kids’ designs built around first-generation favourites, including Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar, Snorlax and the original starter trio: Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle.
- A separate pixel-art anniversary collection has already launched in Japan, but UNIQLO Australia has not confirmed whether or when it will arrive locally.
Pokémon is officially 30 years old, which means an entire generation of people are old enough to remember what was probably the hardest decision they ever made as a child: choosing between Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle.
We’ve already seen plenty of collaborations celebrating three decades of catching Pocket Monsters, from a LEGO Poké Ball to a Casio G-SHOCK that arrives inside its own Poké Ball. Now, there’s another important decision to make at your nearest UNIQLO: which shirt from the new Pokémon 30th Anniversary UT collection will you be wearing?
Landing in stores over the October long weekend, the UT collection has something for adults who took their first steps outside Pallet Town in the late ’90s, and all the kids on the cusp of starting their own Pokémon journey in 2026.
But instead of plastering every shirt with the modern character renders used across the franchise today, the collection goes back to the original video game artwork, using the softer watercolour-style illustrations from Pokémon’s earliest games.
1/14What’s in the Australian Pokémon UT Collection?
You’ll find 10 classic Pokémon designs in the Australian UT collection, split evenly between adults and kids.
For the adults, Charizard, Pikachu, Snorlax and Gengar have their own tees, while Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle share another. The three starters return in the kids’ collection, alongside Eevee and its evolutions, a Pikachu tee, a Mew and Mewtwo design, and another Charizard shirt, just in case. Don’t get me wrong, I love Blastoise’s Hydro Cannon and Venusaur’s Frenzy Plant, but even the staunchest supporter has to admit Charizard, with its Blast Burn, is king of the trio.
The adult Charizard shirt shows that original-art approach most clearly, using the same watercolour artwork from the Pokémon Red box art. If you enjoy deep-cut Pokémon references, the Gengar tee pairs the classic watercolour artwork with its original Pokédex entry.
For anyone who grew up with Pokémon, these watercolour illustrations are almost as familiar as the Pokémon themselves. They were part of everything surrounding those early games while we tried to catch all 151 Pokémon, beat eight Gym Leaders and make it through the Elite Four. Whether you were more into battling or collecting, that’s exactly the kind of nostalgia that gets me through the door to buy ’em all.
1/8There’s a Second Pokémon Collection in Japan
Over in Japan, UNIQLO launched a second Pokémon 30th Anniversary UT collection in July, using monochrome game sprites across four men’s tees and colourful pixel-art designs across four kids’ styles.
We’re not exactly sure if or when it will reach UNIQLO Australia, but UT collections often arrive down under about six months after they launch in Japan, the US or Europe.
If that pattern holds, we could see the pixel-art range sometime in early 2027. For now, these 10 anniversary tees are here, and at $24.90 for adults, nostalgia costs far less than a Porygon at the Celadon City Game Corner.
