IKEA has been teasing its Sonos speakers for around eighteen months, and now we have a first look at the prototype and a name ahead of the official unveiling. The first products of the SYMFONISK range will debut at IKEA’s Feel Home exhibition in Milan April 9 – 14.
The IKEA and Sonos range will include at least one bookshelf speaker offering multi-functional usage within the home, at an affordable price. The image below reveals that the wall-mounted speaker is connected to a power source, so it’s hard to say whether this speaker or any of the new range will be wireless.
While discussing the speaker collaboration, IKEA Home Smart Business Leader Björn Block said: “For IKEA, the smart home is not about gadgets, it’s about making life at home better with solutions that create a better atmosphere, make you live a more convenient life and make you feel safe.”
“The collaboration with Sonos is a great example of this, offering affordable, high-quality sound in combination with a great design piece that we hope will find its way into the many people’s homes.”
Feel Home attendees will get the chance to hear SYMFONISK and to meet home furnishing experts from IKEA and the sound experts from Sonos. For everyone else, the first IKEA x Sonos speakers are expected to launch in August 2019, although more information is expected to follow the Milan exhibition.
