Porsche Cars Australia has officially presented the 911 Turbo S ‘Land Down Under,’ a bespoke 1-of-1 Sonderwunsch commission built to celebrate 75 years of the German sports car brand in Australia. Created in direct collaboration with Style Porsche, the factory Sonderwunsch team in Zuffenhausen, and Sydney-based contemporary artist Werner Bronkhorst, it’s the highly personalised Porsche ever to arrive into the country, and serves as a rolling tribute to the nation’s outback sunsets and Southern Hemisphere skies.
The commission marks the first time Porsche has brought together bespoke paint innovations, native timber, and fine artistic brushwork into a factory-sanctioned Sonderwunsch project specifically tailored to the continent. Unveiled at a special debut event following an outback photoshoot, the one-off model will soon embark on a curated national tour across select Australian locations.
Underneath its handcrafted, colour-shifting Terra Australis Red and Southern Cross Blue Chromaflair paint and custom-tailored cabin, the vehicle retains the performance of the legendary 911 Turbo S. That means its powered by a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged boxer six-cylinder with hybrid turbos that help it produce 523 kW (711 PS) and 1,000 Nm of torque, and it will still accelerate from 0-100km/h in under 2.5 seconds. This Sonderwunsch interpretation just adds a deeply emotional and artistic dimension to the sports cars everyday usability.
1/9World-First Dual Chromaflair Gradient Paintwork Takes 300 Hours On Porsche 911 Turbo S ‘Land Down Under’
The centre of the exterior design is the Dual Chromaflair Gradient paintwork that serves as an interpretation of an outback sunset, capturing the moment where desert amber tones dissolve into night sky blue. To achieve this transition, Porsche developed two brand-new Chromaflair paint colours specifically for the project, blending Terra Australis Red across the lower body seamlessly into Southern Cross Blue.
This is applied completely by hand across seven distinct layers, the Chromaflair pigment utilises ultra-thin glass-coated aluminium flakes that shift between desert orange, dusk blue, eucalyptus green, and sunrise gold depending on ambient light and viewing angle. It’s a painstaking finishing process that required over 300 hours of craftsmanship alone. The visual theme is complemented by staggered 20 and 21-inch 911 Sport Classic wheels finished in Exclusive Southern Cross Blue, high-gloss Black SportDesign exterior accents, and there’s even custom vehicle keys painted in matching Terra Australis Red and Southern Cross Blue with bespoke ‘Land Down Under’ laser etching.
Look closer and plenty of small details expose themselves including several bespoke design details executed in Werner Bronkhorst’s custom font. There’s a Ghosted Roof Motif on the roof that reveals the number ’75’, honouring both 75 years of Porsche in Australia and 75 years of Porsche Motorsport heritage. However, our favourite is concealed beneath the auto-deploying rear spoiler where the message “See ya later mate,” is revealed to trailing drivers when Sport Plus mode is activated or when the wing extends above 80 km/h.
1/7Silky Oak, Blue Mountains Maps and 14,417 Seat Perforations
Porsche extends that exterior design motif to the interior with the use of native materials and geographical storytelling, woven across every surface of the cabin, and anchored by hand-finished local Australian Silky Oak timber inlays set within Neodyme accent trims across the dashboard, door panels, and rear seat areas.
The natural grain of the wood brings a warm, mineral-rich texture directly into the cockpit, complementing the bespoke Darknight Blue leather and a newly created Sonderwunsch colour named Coolibah Brown. Geographical references continue across the upper dashboard and side trims, where precise topographic contour lines depicting the escarpments and valleys of the Blue Mountains are printed across the Darknight Blue leather.
Looking upward, the Darknight Blue roof lining takes a page out of the Rolls-Royce playbook by featuring an embroidered constellation map displaying the Southern Hemisphere night sky exactly as it appeared over Uluru in 1951, celebrating the year the first Porsche arrived on Australian soil.

18-way Adaptive Sports Seats Plus showcase Kalahari leather backrests with Silky Oak decorative inlays and custom paintbrush-style perforated seat centres. Exactly 14,417 individually positioned perforations form a visual pattern engineered to mimic Bronkhorst’s canvas brushstrokes, completed with headrests embossed with the official 75 Years Porsche in Australia motif.
This attention to detail extends throughout the cabin, from the GT Sports steering wheel wrapped in Coolibah Brown and Darknight Blue leather with a Kalahari 12-o’clock marker to the air vents featuring leather-finished slats with Coolibah Brown centres and Darknight Blue surrounds.
The knee pads, glove box, seat consoles, fuse box cover, and centre console lid are all wrapped in tailored Coolibah Brown leather with Sonderwunsch crest embossing.
Illuminating the entry are bespoke door sill guards featuring ‘Land Down Under’ script and paintbrush motifs, while even the front luggage compartment is fully lined in two-tone Coolibah Brown and Darknight Blue leather alongside a matching onboard folder.
1/21Werner Bronkhorst and Porsche Sonderwunsch
Beyond the primary leather and paint finishes, Sydney-based artist Werner Bronkhorst created a series of miniature original artworks depicting native Australian fauna and human-inspired motifs.
These tiny painted details are scattered in unexpected locations across the interior and exterior bodywork for passengers to discover. Reflecting on the collaborative process, the artist highlighted the technical challenge of translating tactile canvas work onto high-performance automotive surfaces.
“Developing the concept for the 911 Turbo S Land Down Under was an opportunity to translate my artistic language into an entirely new form,” he said.
“Much of my work is rooted in texture, depth and the emotional energy of the Australian landscape, and bringing those ideas to life on a Porsche required a fresh level of precision and experimentation.”
1/7“Adapting brushstroke-inspired techniques to curved metal, leather surfaces and even micro-details challenged me in the best possible way. Seeing these elements come together on such an iconic canvas feels like a truly inspirational celebration of both Australia and Porsche,” Bronkhorst added.
Porsche Cars Australia Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Daniel Schmollinger, noted that the project highlights the full scope of the brand’s revived Sonderwunsch factory personalisation programme.
“This unique 911 Turbo S demonstrates the power of combining Porsche craftsmanship with bold artistic vision,” he said.
“From the Chromaflair gradient to the bespoke interior storytelling, every detail reflects an appreciation for Australia’s remarkable natural beauty. It is a true showcase of what bespoke Porsche design can achieve.”
Alexander Fabig, Vice President Product & Individualisation Offering at Porsche AG, echoed those sentiments, emphasising the global significance of the commission.
“The goal with our Sonderwunsch programme is to translate highly personal dreams into automotive reality,” Fabig said.
“The 911 Turbo S Land Down Under exemplifies Porsche’s commitment to precision and craftsmanship while reflecting the distinctive character and environment of Australia in an exceptional manner.”

Legacy of the Porsche Sonderwunsch Programme
German for “special request”, the Porsche Sonderwunsch programme traces its roots back to the late 1970s. Porsche has reinterpreted the legendary service to allow customers to co-create custom one-off sports cars directly with factory designers and engineers in Zuffenhausen.
The modern programme encompasses factory-integrated options during vehicle production, such as Paint to Sample Plus, as well as full Factory Re-Commissioning. Under Factory Re-Commissioning, owners can completely redesign existing vehicles or undertake technical and cosmetic restorations supported by Porsche’s dedicated development teams.
The 911 Turbo S Land Down Under represents one of the most extensive factory-backed Sonderwunsch projects ever completed for the Southern Hemisphere.
