Netflix is no stranger to the world of action comedy and it seems they’re doubling down on their lineup of adrenaline-pumping movies. 2021’s Red Notice turned out to be a hidden gem for the streamer, skyrocketing to unexpected heights and even securing two follow-up films. Now, according to the film’s lead actress, Gal Gadot, there are promising developments on the horizon for the highly anticipated sequel, ‘Red Notice 2,’ with production potentially gearing up in the near future.
While recently talking with Collider, Gal Gadot broke the long silence surrounding the sequel (now expanded to two sequels), enthusiastically revealing that filming for Red Notice 2 is poised to begin sometime in the coming months. This news comes after Gadot got the chance of reading the second script, indicating that the project is steadily moving forward. Gadot told Collider, “We’re all talking about it (Red Notice 2). I don’t know if I can say anything! I already read the second script and it’s… whoo! We’re all very excited about it!”

Red Notice, which stars Gal Gadot alongside Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson, follows Johnson’s FBI agent, who reluctantly teams up with a renowned art robber (Reynolds) in order to catch an even more notorious thief (Gadot). While the film may not have garnered widespread critical acclaim, it soared to commercial success. It claimed the title of the most-watched movie on its premiere weekend and dominated the Top 10 Netflix titles in a whopping 94 countries. So, it’s only natural that Netflix is eager to expand the universe with more thrilling stories.
The highly anticipated sequel will see the return of Rawson Marshall Thurber as the director, along with Gadot, Reynolds and Johnson reprising their respective roles. In a previous interview with Collider, Red Notice producers Beau Flynn and Hiram Garcia revealed their plans to pursue back-to-back filming for Red Notice 2 and Red Notice 3. However, we’ll have to wait for further updates to confirm whether this plan is still on track.
As of now, Netflix has not revealed any additional details regarding the Red Notice sequels, including the filming schedule, casts and expected release date. No plot details have been revealed either, which makes sense, considering Gadot’s recent update on the film’s script. With Red Notice 2 finally going into production, it will be interesting to see what new avenues filmmakers decide to pursue.
