Marvel’s first family is officially assembled, fulfilling fan speculation. On Valentine’s Day, Marvel Studios officially announced the cast for its highly anticipated Fantastic Four reboot. Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn is Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach is Ben Grimm (aka the Thing). The company made the official announcement on its social media, along with an incredible poster featuring the cast enjoying Valentine’s Day together.

The official poster also features nods to the beloved robot H.E.R.B.I.E. and Ben Grimm’s pre-Thing days as a NASA astronaut. While the film’s plot and villain remain under wraps, ‘Fantastic Four‘ promises to be a highly anticipated addition to the MCU. Matt Shakman, director of Apple TV+’s ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,’ will helm the film from a script penned by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer.
In the Marvel comics, the Fantastic Four are initially astronauts who become superheroes after cosmic ray exposure during a mission in space. Reed Richards gains the ability to stretch his body, Susan Storm (Reed’s girlfriend and eventual wife) manipulates invisible force fields to become invisible and create powerful force fields, Johnny Storm controls fire and generates intense heat allowing him to fly, and Ben Grimm becomes The Thing, gaining super strength but struggling with his rocky appearance.
The cast of MCU’s Fantastic Four is definitively an exciting bunch, packed with some promising talents in Hollywood right now. Pedro Pascal, known for his work on The Mandalorian, Narcos, and most recently The Last of Us, is a strong choice for Mr. Fantastic, to say the least. Vanessa Kirby, known for her roles in The Crown and her Oscar-nominated performance in Pieces of a Woman, has previously expressed her interest in playing Sue Storm-Richards, calling her “amazing.”
While talking to Variety at the premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One last year, Kirby said, “It would be an honour to play Sue Storm. She’s amazing.” Jamie Campbell Bower, after standout performances on British TV, rose to fame for his portrayal of Eddie Munson in Stranger Things Season 4. While Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who has appeared in previous Marvel projects like The Punisher‘ but gained fame for his role as Richard ‘Richie’ Jerimovich on FX’s The Bear, for which he recently won an Emmy for his performance, returns to MCU.
The upcoming Fantastic Four movie is set to be the first official MCU outing of the iconic superhero family, following Disney’s acquisition of Marvel IPs from 21st Century Fox. While John Krasinski portrayed a multiverse variant of Reed Richards in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ the MCU has yet to introduce its main team. The movie won’t be an origin story so it’ll be interesting to see what event or villain will cause Richards and his team to assemble, and if will they appear in other MCU projects before the film’s release.
Marvel’s The Fantastic Four hits cinemas on July 25, 2025.
