Get Low, Tom Cruise is Reportedly Reviving his Greatest Ever Character

Tom Cruise is the hottest actor in Hollywood right now. Top Gun: Maverick was a smash hit at the box office, and the film now ranks as the seventh highest-grossing domestic (US) movie of all time. Striking while the iron is hot, the 60-year-old actor, alongside producer Christopher McQuarrie, is reportedly set to develop three new exciting projects. Answering the prayers of comedy fans worldwide, one of those projects may focus on Les Grossman – Cruise’s iconic studio executive character from Tropic Thunder. Cruise’s long reign as one of the industry’s most powerful movie stars is partly due to his creative relationship with writer/producer/director McQuarrie. In addition to directing the four most recent Mission: Impossible films, McQuarrie also headed up Jack Reacher and worked as a producer on several Cruise films such as Valkyrie, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, and Top Gun: Maverick.

According to Deadline, the pair has three new film projects in the works. One is an original song and dance-style musical they’ll create as a star vehicle for Cruise, alongside another original action film with “franchise potential” and finally, a Les Grossman project. It’s still unclear whether Grossman will get the full movie treatment or instead use him in another cameo-style role. Let’s hope it’s the former. In the meantime, watch some of Grossman’s most hilarious moments from the 2008 hit comedy (see video above).

If you haven’t seen Tropic Thunder, do yourself a favour and chuck it on tonight. Arguably one of the greatest comedies of the 21st century, the cast came loaded with star power from the likes of Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Matthew McConaughey, Bill Hader, Nick Nolte, and Danny McBride. However, Cruise’s stereotypical portrayal of an unhinged studio executive stole the show. If they are to bring the character back to the big screen, let’s hope they don’t ruin his legendary status.
